D17 is totally worth it. 200WHP is easy with a boosted application (on a 5 speed).
If you buld the motor completely, I say the limit would be about 400 hp or so, providing your axels and tranny can take it.

A VW Golf TDI only has 90 horsepower. Horsepower means nothing, its all about torque.
the VW TDI engine produces 250 ft lb. TQ, while only measures 90 HP.
Dezod's kit looks damn nice. It should produce some nice numbers on a D17 after all the issues are worked out.

yeah, i agree. You can obtain 400whp........and i am sure there are some that can put down about 450whp.

on stock internals, with tuning and getting all the bugs worked out, you can probably hit 250 whp out of the D17. Don't know if the axle/tranny can handle it though.

Mechanically the engine can be built up to practically do anything. Electronically - well, we're fvcked right now.
The AEM EMS would be the ONLY standalone (besides the motec) which could handle that much HP or torque on the d17. And when you go to a standalone - you lose a lot of functionality of your car (a lot of gauges are run on the multiplex bus - which means kiss them good bye!). Too bad AEM hasn't officially released the EMS yet.

you guys are forgetting the whole basic idea that the D17 is a B17 with a SOHC head, same crank and all, with forged internals, not a bad motor... i believe i was putting down 220hp or so before i ripped my head off, only to find out i had 2 blown cylinders worthof headgasket,... no internal damage at all... with my new head at 9psi i predict 270hp +... WHP at that... i already walked a few Stis before taking the car apart, WRX's are easy, only hard off thte line obviously.... this motor has good potential, and EMS isnt the only good system, emanage has been used,m as well as a few "secret" ones only V8s use, but we can convert... when i hit a 12.7 or so it wil be HILARIOUS.... hehehehe.. and dont think i dont have the knowledge or tuning skills... stock injectors, no return line... heheheh... i have secrets

damn, where have u been Todd.
And no offense.....but 270whp on a stock bottom end, stock injectors and at 9psi won't happen. Prove me wrong though

Im trying to get 230-250whp hopefully next month. We'll see how the dyno goes. I know i'll easily be over 200whp but i wanna get near 290 crank hp, that'll be pretty bitchin in a civic. Man, i dont know how far im going to push this, turbo is like crack, i get a little and i want more more more

270 whp at 9psi, and getting a 12.7 quarter....never gunna haapen with these mods
