Just when I thought I'd have my car back....I find out I've got a fried piston and fried rings. So I guess its time to buy some low compression pistons, new rings, and a new head gasket.

Im looking into CP pistons....anyone else have any suggestions?

this f*cking sucks.

Im not sure exactly how it happened....but one of the shitty *** stock spark plugs broke...leaving a ceramic piece to go floating in the cylinder. This fCked up the piston I'm sure. How the rings fried I have no idea. This just sucks.

i told you that this is one of the downsides of boost. you gotta be able to get down and dirty with the car once in a while...... for the most part boost will cause minor problems here and there all the time

my friend's distributor for nismo told me never to get denso's because they have been known to break under heavy load....

I dunno I still want to try the turbo specialty pistons. Inexpensive and a lot of DSM owners use them.

I've seen plugs fall apart with detonation.... Just enough of a misfire and damage one... Plus I've seen holes in pistons from detonation as well....... Might be your culprit....

yeah
They can withstand all that boost and the occationaly accidental detonation.
Now Wiseco makes them to fit stock engines with out boring out.
You can get other piston cheaper but you get what you are pay for.
And the service provided by racing eng. is worth it.
Call John tell him I sent you mention 7thgen site and you'll get a discount.
This pistons are specialy desing for D17's turbo and nitrous applications.

If you have any problems with them I'll call them directly.
They desingned this pistons around my block and they promessed me a bonus on every sale and I decline as long as the bonus is apply towards our members purchase.

and BTW guys... if you over tighten a Sparkplug it leaves the electrode way too far down in the piston, therefore it gets a lot more heat than it is supposed to and can heat up and fall off, and because it is overtightened it is hanging lower in the head and the piston will actually come up and hit it and pop it off and crack the piston in the process... which could have been this guys problem... but i'm no expert... just info that i've learned about plugs over that past few months

Really sorry to hear about the issues, but one of the number one things I tried to warn you about was this kind of thing. Hopefully you can get everything worked out and running better than before. Make sure you catch any issues, however minor, before they get bigger. As far as those cp's go, my buddy just hit over 400 whp on a set for his setup (he plans to make over 650 wheel before it's said and done.)

Didn't say it was a 7th gen. It's an 89 CX hatch with a gsr. And it weighs closer to 1900 lbs. What's excessive about running 10's? On his low boost setting, he hit an 11.6 for 13 psi.
