those going with a custom turbo kit...
Importrace:Pretty smart to use the old cai piping, then you don;t have to add a bunghole for the oxygen sensor.
I got a sweet deal on an HKS manifold from a member. Brand new for 169 shipped!
But i wouldn't cut and weld a t3 flange on it. the reason people buy cast manifold is because of their stregnth. unlike a tubular mani it won't crack when it heats up.

But as far as piping if you want to spend the extra $$ get aluminum, but its more expensive and harder to weld than steel

Another thing i noticed today is that it reall REALLY gets hot in the engine bay
everything : pipes, strut bar, (turbo of course) just hot
I was mostly concerned about the pipes thou which is leading me to thinking of painting them with a heat resistant paint and wrapping them like i did the mani.
They have like this ALuminum foil stuff..i've seen it in magazines but don't know where to buy

nice to see some pics of piping. Im going to reuse my CAI also, so hopefully it works out, as long as the AEM sticker can come off. About welding a flange on the hks dont bother. The flange is actually recessed a little bit on the hks mani, so alot of custom work would have to be done in order to get it to work, and it would defeat the purpose of the hks cast design.
Skater:Post up some pics of you're set-up. Id love to see more CAI charge pipes, so I can get my act together! Oh what kinda of piping is an CAI? Aluminum?

if it is going to be a pain in the *** to get a t3 flange on the hks manifold, which manifold would you suggest?

thats what im probally gonna have to do when i get my turbo installed and all at the local shop. i hope they dont charge me too much for the manifold though. what do you think a fair price for that would be? im gonna be having them do my return fuel and all my electronics too, so hopefully they give me a good deal.

It's gonna be a grip. I can tell you that. If they are using SS bends and its gonna be Equal length. the labor is what's gonna kill you not to mention them doing the return setup and pipes. Most shops I have gone to talk with don't know a damn thing about my car and generally say i'm the first one they have seen who has put a turbo on our year. Everyone is just exhaust;(
One shop tried to charge me 800 to remove my AC compressor and make a downpipe!!!
Needless to say I hooked up with some friends of some friends at work and gave them 50 bucks to get the AC compressor off. Im sure they spent it on weed and beer but i dont care. Cool guys. As far as downpipe? i made one for less than 100 and looking to weld the rest after i buy a welder but want to tune first.
..edit..
