No you need to swap the ECM. The ECM is made for an Auto tranny. It is NOT WORTH it to swap transmissions. Either trade your car for a manual or don't bother. There are tons of threads on this subject.

hey,
how much will the conversion cost, I have an auto also and I'm going to do my swap in May. The shop gave me an estimate of 1600 dollars.

because the AUTO has one more extra harness that plugs into the ecu. All you have to do is unplug it and it will throw a cell. But I think you can still run it that way...correct me if I am wrong.

Well I dunno bout yall but I'm planning bout building my auto tranny stronger, just to prove that autos dont suck.
here is a list of crap you need for the 5-speed swap:
M/T Tranny mounts
Tranny
Clutch Master Cylinder
M/T Slave Cylinder
Clutch
Flywheel
Dash Wire harness for a M/T
Engine Wire harness for a M/T (I have extra if anyone needs any)
Subframe
Axels for a M/T
ECU
Shift Linkage
Shifter Assembly
shift ****
need to get your key reflashed for the new ecu that also has to be flashed
I am thinking about selling mine it has everything for the swap ready for around $2000

wouldnt it be cheaper for the boosted people who's planning on doing a tranny swap to just get a used d17 engine with manual tranny for $400-500 and buy the other mics parts that way u have an engine u can send out to get sleeved and then put everything in .. reducing the down time of having to yank ur current engine out and send it or is it just a waste of money?

i was thinking about doing the swap also, but instead of taking all the time and money for the d17 5spd im just gonna wait it out until i get enough cash for the k20 swap, cause ill just put the 6 spd in then. itll be a lot longer wait but i think it would be worth it. cause doing the tranny swap now in our cars would just be pointless. but thats just my opinion
I'm not sure if this applies to 7th gens but when we did an auto to manual conversion on an older accord we had to use a manual ECM. I think it had something to do with the ECM thinking the car was in park.

I personally don't think this is a good swap. Your paying 2000 dollars for something that you could have had from the dealer and actually paid LESS for your car. So you pay like 800 from the dealer for an auto tranny when you first buy the car...then you're going to pay 2000 to remove it and put in a 5 speed? OK...it's your money. I just think it could be better spent. For 3000 you could have a turbo. Just my opinion though.

So you could probably run a manual off of an auto ecu, with maybe a CEL, but maybe not even that.. Like I said the only thing I know of is idle is screwed up a little.
it's not worth the trouble to do a manual conversion when there are plenty of manual cars to be found..... so sell the auto & buy a manual...
aside from that if u do decide to convert to manual and ECU change is a must....

well if the car was stock then i could understand your reasoning, but i have alot of money invested in the car, fiberglass in truck and back seats... ps2... so its not that much of a pain.... i had to buy shift linkage for the tranny, the gear selector for the manual shifter, a new brake pedal and clutch pedal assembly and i am getting the new ecu with the engine/tranny i bought.... so it should go well,. but obviously, EVERYTHING is a project....

Good luck with it man, I did an auto to manual swap in my Mustang and it wasn't tough if you have a clue what you're doing... Then again, Civic's are a BIT different...
