goin' the custom route
There is a probability that i will be getting a full sponsorship from a local shop to turbo my car. i am going to go with a bunch of parts from RevHard and a few bits here and there. however, i have a few questions to ask b/c i don't know much about turbocharging a d17.
1) how big of an intercooler can fit? SF's is 19x7x3... would a Spearco 18.48x6x3.5 fit, or should i try and go a bit taller... or wider?
2) is it possible to keep A/C and run a standard intercooler pipe layout... or should they both go to the passenger side?
3)is an FMU enough, or are bigger injectors necessary?
4)anybody out there have any transmission problems? is the power too much for the tranny... a friend was spraying and blew his tranny, making approx. 210whp... so i worry a bit
5) any cutting of the car? i understand the bumper b/c of the IC, but any metal cutting?
thanks for anyone who can help me out. the guy building the turbo setup is good enough to figure all this out, i just wanna feel like im helping by learning as much as i can before we start the work

there are ppl running 250 whp with no tranny problems.
a fmu will be good if you stay under 10psi. If plan on building up your motor to run around 12psi or higher then i suggest coverting to a return fuel set-up with bigger injectors and a piggy back.

For the cooler, try and get a cardboard box, measure it out, and dummy mount it... Then you'll know...
FMU is plenty...
No tranny probs for many, just make sure you're not launching on slicks at 7K or powershifting three gears....
Clutch will be the real problem more than anything....
