Ignition Timing once again

Ok... Talking to Josh from DH Racing last night... Igition tuning is inevitable for my engine. I was told I have no choice but to retard the ignition timing but I also know this...

I have a VAFC2. Thing works great but doesn't let me touch ignition. Only the emanage does but does that thing DEFINATELY work on my car?

Another theory... Can I buy an AEM cam gear and advance it about 3 degrees to get the same affect?

The cam theory will probably work, but it would be -3 across the board. As I've stated in my previous threads, I have taken a timing light and verified that I can change my timing, with no problems so far......

so you think even though my low end power may not be as good, it'll effectively retard the ignition timing form idle to redline?

If you install a cam gear, and adjust it for -3 degrees - it will be across the entire RPM band....

How would a cam gear retard ignition timing is what I wanna know?

As far as I know....e-manage is the only way to retard ignition timing on our cars thus far. Least till Hondata or someone else makes a program.

Well - I'm not sure how it well it would work on are cars because the ECU may counteract it - but adjustable cam gears will allow you to adjust the cam timing +/- a certain percentage....

Either way. I listed my VAFC2 for sale online lol. Through 7thgen and through Ebay.

I am buying the Emanage with all the harnesses, hopfully from the same guy I'm getting my fuel rail/injector setup from. he was trying to sell it to me before lol... we shall see guys.

Im shooting for 300whp. Wish me luck.

You are right, it does not adjust ignition timing, adjusting the cam gear only changes cam timing... two completely different things...

The e-manage will work hands down.

You should retard the ignition advance based on RPM and boost...

You may want to read up on FI mechanics if you plan on tuning a 20psi+ FI motor.... You're going to be going through head gaskets like you wouldn't believe if you aren't careful...

Im planning on running 15-18psi, whatever gets me close to 300whp then I'll stop.

But I'm taking it to a local shop if I can find one to get it all professionally tuned. I dont want to deal with messing with that much myself. Once it's tuned I'll look at all the settings and try to learn it off that.

Can't wait to get it all running though. I wanna hit 12s on street tires.

would you have to get new pistons to run over 15 psi?
