keep the vtec controller, the AEM CAI is gone out the window, i would suggest a cat back, boost guage, and either a manual boost controller or electronic boost controller

ever hear of GARAGE SPL, im sure they got all of that, plus thats the only place ive heard of in WA

a/f gauge (whether narrow wideband) your full exhaust should be at least 2.5" piping. Colder spark plugs would be nice too.

figure it this way.....

the kit costs $3k

A boost controller if its a manual one can cost you between $15-100
If it's electronic....figure least $150
Boost gauge: sells for $50.00 on ebay
A/F gauge: Sells for $50.00 on ebay
CATBACK: varies. If you go custom it will probably be cheaper. If you go brand name, expect about $500.00

Add all of that to however much labor people are charging you.

Looking at close to 1k just for the install and tune, plus the purchase of the parts. Make sure you take it somewhere respectable if your not gonna do it yourself.

You don't need it, but I would suggest a turbo timer, which is around 100 dollars at a local shop.

with EVERYTHING you would need, i would say get ready to fork out 8k-10k, your looking at the kit, gauges, exhaust, plugs, boost controller, turbo timer (if you feel like buying one), clutch, fuel management, etc... and then to have it all installed is gonna cost a pretty penny too.

Do you really need a new clutch, though?

eventually you will need a new clutch...the factory clutch is built to handle the power being put out by the turbo...especially after some heavy launching.....also, a new clutch will help you to put some more of that power to the ground....

you wont spend that price up front...i didnt...i bought gauges, boost controller, and turbo time to go along with my SF turbo kit....and i havent spent more than 4grand....i am boost my butt off....all day long on 7lbs no problem....it just depends on what you want....there are several more things that i plan to get for my kit also before my motor build....but i the long run i will surely have spent 8-10 grand

but yeah, you can boost for around 4grand and be happy

Let's think about this in real world numbers....

Kit 3500
install 700
Total just so far: 4200

Don't forget the little things too because they add up... oil, coolant, plugs... They may add those onto the install price... What about tax on the parts or install (varies by state)...

everything else: whatever you want
Problem is, you don't NEED the other stuff, but you really really should have it... Stuff like a turbo timer, gauges, and other stuff mentioned above are usually mandatory with this stuff.... There's at least another 1K MINIMUM for parts and install...

Now you are at almost 5500.......

look at it this way, pay a little more now and have a decent setup, or skimp and pay a lot more later after you destroy your engine

why would a turbo timer be mandatory?

4K sounds good to me.

I just did the math... On my turbo/engine setup alone I'm at $8458 haha...

Well after tuning and some labor is done, I'd say I've finally passed the 10k mark on my D17...

I wonder what the end result will be, can it end?

BTW - Read my profile if ur curious why it's so high...

It's not extremely manditory, but it allows the oil in the lines running through the turbo to cool down, instead of staying hot and glue'ing up inside the turbo.. Basically increases the lifetime of the turbo..

Wow --> I sound like I know something!! imp:

Question

I have a quick question.. is an oil pressure gauge really necessary, since our cars come with an idiot light in the gauge bezel? whether we notice it from a gauge or from the dash light would still produce the same effect of urgency to correct the problem, right? I just want to see what everyone else thinks; i'm trying to get away with only purchasing an boost gauge and fuel pressure gauge.
