P&P at Polk Performance

There site has so pretty good pricing i'm wondering if it's maybe just my lack of knowledge of what p&p goes for nowadays but here's a listing I'm thinking of getting some stuff done there.

I live very close to Polk. I can vouch that they have AWESOME service. Don Polk is extremely knowledgeble. They build cool cars like this DSM...

That price isn't bad at all. Consider that it's a FULL head build minus a cam, not just a port and polish. Are you sure that they have these parts available for a d17 head? Last I checked, I couldn't even find a turbo cam for it.

big companys will custom make anything

crower will build a head with everything in it set to go, not a PNP im sure but as far as hardware they will make it all

They fabricate 98% of their parts in-house, so i'm sure they could do it. I might go over to their shop tommarow and see what they can do for us.

That is absolutely true but......these parts have to be designed and tested as well. I wanted to get CP pistons and I have to send them an oem piston. Then I have to wait for them to design a mold and test them. It takes time. I don't have the money for pistons at the moment but I'd rather just order a set and have them show up a week later than have to tear my block apart, pull and send out a piston, wait for them to receive it, design it, test it and finally ship it back to me. The same would go for a head build.

Ok, so that's still over a month. If you have the spare parts or engine, no big deal. I would just prefer having it within two weeks of ordering, not a month or two. But with the lack of available parts, there's little choice else.

Thing is this is how companys start making products for a car someone wants them and then sends them stock parts to model them after to show that they are serious about buying parts. I would buy a part and send it in so myself and others would be able to buy parts for our cars.

Just so you realize, you are paying 375 to have the head rebuilt. The only thing that will help performance (aka horsepower) is the bowl work, and it will be minimal (2-3hp)...

The stage 5 one mentioned will add some serious power since it is a complete port job, larger valves, and gasket match....

i sent out stock parts to both crower and JE, with JE i got the part back, crower kept it
