well since i really didnt get what i wanted from my previous post, im posting again. i want to put together a custom turbo kit and i was wondering what i needed. tell me if i miss anything!

For now i have I/H/E so ill be getting rid of the intake and header when i get my turbo kit together. if i missed something plz post, or if u just have any comments etc plz post too. i want to make about 200whp and i have an '01 lx (automatic ), and i plan on getting a torque converter upgrade from the levelten guys, would i need to do anything else? oh and ill also be getting a dh-racing pulley so that should free up some more hp.

Yeah. duh for me, just noticed that chrisgushue said that gauge thing- anyways, searching is probably the best idea- look at what a kit offers and compare it to your list.
BTW I don't think that you need a cam gear, w/ SOHC engines it really isn't that effective but if someone has one and disagrees I would be interested in knowing about yours....

well the cam gear is in there so when i get the car tuned itll be easy for the mechanic to adjust my timing, or am i wrong in thinking this?

and yeah the boost gauge is a must, forgot to stick it in there. oh also, would i need to modify my fuel system? or is that more for really high levels of boost? since i plan on getting the greddy emanage would it be enough to just program more fuel to be used?

u dont need a cam gear to change timing the emanage will do that itself

ok cool, wont get a cam gear then, oh also, if i get a vented hood would i really need an intercooler seeing as the air that the turbo would be sucking in would already be pretty cool?

yes...a turbo generates heat...the compressor side of a turbo would still be hot with a vented hood, meaning that you're pushing hot air into the throttle body through the charge pipe...it would help no doubt...but wouldnt be near as effective as an intercooler, which takes the warmer air, and cools it down(colder air=denser bla bla)...why dont you want an intercooler? I think they're totally bitchin and easy to install to boot

trying to be cost effective heh heh (cheap). mainly cause i dont have much extra money lying around to spend on my car, so im seeing what i really need and what i dont. but yeah, if intercooler is better then just a vented hood ill go with intercooler too. but my fuel question still hasnt been answered. if i want to boost up to around 200hp will i have to modify my fuel system or not? ive heard the stock one is good up to about 400hp. can i just program the emenager that ill get to send more fuel in?

if trying to be cost effective, dont get a electronic boost contoller either, get a manual one, alot cheaper, if u dont get an intercooler, dont go any further with this project, and the hood idea, not worth anything, in this case take the hood completely off and the front bumper, then it might work

haha

The fuel system is good enough to support about 3 psi. And it does a shitty job even at that level. You need to be able raise the fuel pressure, or get injectors that can handle a longer duty cycle, or both together for better efficiency.

what if i got better injectors? what kind of flow rate would you recommend for about 8 psi? also wouldnt i be able to raise the fuel pressure with the emanage? or maybe the SAFC is better?

Save the money and do a manual swap first...even w/ 200whp your car won't feel like it has 200whp w/ that automatic in there.

The E-manage and the SAFC can't raise fuel pressure, they can only alter the injector duty cycle.

To raise the fuel pressure, you could:
A. convert to a return fuel system
B. Purchase the SF Fuel system
C. Get a digital FMU like Aeromotive and an auxilliary pump (I wouldn't know how well that would work)

You could just get auxilliary injectors and use the E-manage to control them to deliver the extra fuel, without really having to mess around with the stock injectors, fuel pumps, etc etc. I guess for auxilliary injectors, you could use 370-440cc.
