swap vs turbo questions

ok so theres an rsx-s engine.. whats that engine called... its 200 hp.... but wouldnt it be cheeper to get that engine rahter then an sf turbo kit?.. sf kit at 8 psi gives 190ish to the wheels and that engine would probly give... 185 give or take 5 hp... if i got that rsx-s engine swap.. would it be cheeper? also what would i need to make it fit? WHATS THAT ENGINE CALLED? is it the k20?

Search function is your friend. There are tons of threads that talk about everything that you could possibly want to know about the swap, and the turbo kit. If that doesnt fill your thirst for knowledge, check out hasport.com, still need more read up on honda-tech.com. Any questions that you have after that can more than likely be answered by a member who has done a swap, or a turbo conversion. I get IM's every day with people asking me questions about the swap...feel free to join in. BTW, a swap is gonna run you about 6K, a turbo i believe will run you about half that.

if you got hookups, and can get a k20 for like 2k, DIY the install, can't come out to more than 5k for the whole swap, sf turbo is like 3k for the kit, and a DIY, so SF is still cheaper!

now, if you DON"T have hookups (sounds like you don't) then 3.5k for the engine, other parts can run you another 3k, shop install is like 2k, so your total will be like 8k!!
SF turbo still 3k for the kit, and $400 for the install max!

SF CHEAPER!!!

The turbo would be cheaper and since our sohc has more low end torgue potential than the dohc. But if you got the money the swap is very nice and will win you major prop points.

even though turbo is cheaper, does it make the car more noisier than an engine swap would???

he hasnt been on in a while. He sold his turbo (t25bb tsi extreme), and was gonna sell his car for a s2000. He crashed his car and its in the shop. Hes waiting to find out if its gonne be totaled. Hes hoping so. he s2000 he was gonna get was sold already. It sucks. Hopefully he finds something sick. His dad and mine feel the same about our cars turbod. They want us in something newer and more reliable. My dad hates my car, cuz its been down for a couple weeks, and I used to have to set the car up everytime I would drive it. He hated waiting for me to set it up, and I didnt like running places for work since I had to take 10 minutes to drive. Its fixed now, but before, it was a major pain. i didnt even fix it til my car was undriveable. But Im getting a new clutch soon hopefully. Already paid, just waiting for some to get in stock. than new clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, and tranny mount. along with my new poly bushings.

I love my SOHC non-vtec as well, haha. Nothing like killing an RSX-S in this car. Im feeling ya on that. I just put my LX-T emblem on a little while ago. Let them haters know whats up. Which reminds me leave some positive feedback.

haha, a swap would sound like a stock motor, unless you put an exhaust on, than it would probably be louder. I have a turbo with a catback exhaust. and 2.5"downpipe. Sounds very quiet, much quieter than just an exhaust (same one I had before). You jsut hear the turbo spool up real loud, sounds like a jet taking off. the BOV sound is soooooo nice too. You dont have that with a swapped motor, until you boost that one.

my swap is loud as ****. annoyingly so, but when you get on it, it's fun. i hear that most all swaps are louder, maybe thats because there isn't as much deadening in there, maybe because pretty much all swaps have an exhaust.

yeah, i was thinking about that after I typed that a while ago. They do seem louder, but I also figured its cuz they throw an exhaust on at the same time. A DOHC exhaust soudns loud. especially when the VizzleTEC kicks in. Sorry, I needed an izzle somewhere. Fo Shizzle!

I get good gas with my lx turbo'd. 28-33 mpg depending on how I drive. Im not sure what type gas mileage the other motors get. Probably very comparable.
