any of you 7th gen turbos do a custom 3" or bigger exhaust setup? If you did, did it give you any gains? I just ordered a hks carbon ti muffler and im getting custom 3" piping soon. Wondering if its worth it...thanks

That setup was suggested to me by Dezod. It will produce gaines, especially compared to stock exhaust. More air flow is better as long as the air charge is hot enough.

but if u have a TURBO, then back pressure is taken care of, mine is 2.5, unless ur pushing some serious boost i dont see why u would need that big of one

i dont agree with that....
i dont see why u NEED an exhaust at ALL. well u DONT. not for turbo applications. back pressure is a bad thing. the less u have in a turbo car the better ull be.
if you get ur turbo kit... try running the car with the exhaust disconnected for a few blocks then reconnect it ... Ull notice a HUGE difference even if u have 2.5 piping already.
i have 2.5 and its restrictive.
im moving up to 3 most likely...
but another member on the site... i think speedracerchic came up with a good idea... its a Y pipe with a switch that controls it. with the flip of a switch u can run open exhaust. IMO thats a money saver cause u can keep ur stock exhaust and just buy the Y pipe.

maybe a money saver but i'd like to have the fumes behind me lol, especially if there's no cat involved.
3" is the way to go... the least amount of back pressure possible is ideal for turbo, as long as the exhaust gases stay hot... colder exhaust gases will slow down and end up making backpressure so you want to do it right. you also want to eliminate any risk of turbulance within the exhaust. if you're doing custom piping... MANDREL bent, no crush bending! i saw some kid that works with me, his rear sections is more wrinkles than any stock exhaust i've seen so what's the point?
but yeah oso is right, 3 is much better, my 2.5 is almost out the door... the y pipe is nice but like i said before i want the fumes behind me, plus i like the sound of turbo exhausts

Do it up!!! What muffler you plan on running?
Dezod's my sponser so I'm either going with the Turbo N1 muffler with custom 3", or the HKS Carbon Ti turbo muffler with custom 3". GL with what ever u choose.

No, I don't have turbo, I used to run nitrous though.
But, I plan on getting turbo soon, and my exhaust is messed up right now so I'm going to put the exhaust and have 3" piping.

MUAHAHA. It is installed. It actually looks pretty damn nice. the sound is AWESOME. Not too loud, nice and deep tone justl ike i wanted. I wanted 3" piping but #1 they had no 3" flange...#2 they said if i did 3" piping, it would be too low to the ground. So i just got 2.5"...fine with me. Looks awesome
