Ok so i'll be putting nitrous in my car in about 2 months and the only hurdle left to get over is retarding ignition. Now i know that Jet wont retard timing, and i know that alot of other things wont work for our cars cause of alot of reasons....but one member wrote this....

"The other option would be adjusting the timing with the cam gear. Technically, if you advance the ignition, that is the same as retarding the cam gear and vice versa."

...by this logic, if i advance my cam gear that will be the same as retarding the ignition??????
Can someone help me out with this please, i'd like to be able to retard the ignition so that i'm not having rod failure or some other bad **** from to large of an explosion inside the cylinder without enough room for it to expand.

The GReddy Emanage adjusts ignition timing.

Maybe in theory advancing valve timing would retard ignition, but I'm not sure it's the best idea. It's a SOHC. If you advance the cam, you are advancing the intake and exhaust at the same time. Both are dependant on the same gear obviously. I'm pretty sure for a better result, you would want the exhaust advanced more than the intake.

I would say don't even mess with the valve timing to half-*** ignition timing, and go get a unit that can directly adjust the spark.

but what unit would that be?? All of the products i've seen for our cars only advance timing, not retard, Jet and Venom for example. I read the one post about the Apexi Super ITC but extensive searches on the web got absolutely no detail on how it hooks up, how it works, and what exactly it does. Can someone tell me more about it?? i've sent a few emails to different companies including Apexi but so far no response....and its been a week.
Any info would be appreciated.


Or if you think i should just not worry about the timing for my 75 shot let me know. Alot of people on here are praying 35 and 50 shots.....a dozen or more are doing 75's, and i havent read any problems so far......what you think???

Adjustments from -20 deg. to +20 deg. in 1 deg. increments. So yeah, it advances and retards. And it's only $300 for the main unit.

maybe he's thinkin of the EMS system (AEM). dunno, but so far the emanage seems to be the only functional ignition adjuster...

Well, as of yesterday, the aem ems wasn't yet released for the civic cpe/sedan/si. My question is: Has anyone tuned their ignition timing for a distributorless ignition system and had it work successfully? Keep in mind that if this setup works on b series engines and ecus, it may not work on ours the same way. I'm just wondering if this will actually work on our engines and if anyone knows from experience.

If you search you'll see that the e-manage works fine. I've verified that the timing actually changes using a timing light....

Don't be a d1ck, dude. I could understand you telling me to search if I had started an all new thread on this subject but I did search, which is how I came across this thread in the first place.

Anyways, thanks for the info. I've heard that the emanage isn't the best way to tune fuel but if it does the trick with timing, it may be worth picking up.

anyway, boostek2k2 has SUCESSFULLY installed the unit. you can adjust ignition timing, as he said, by +/- 20 degrees. mohdparts.com sells everything you need to install it. good luck.

Wow, you sure take offense to pretty much anything, don't you? I wasn't being a ****. I posted a thread last year sometime about this. I said that I made adjustments in the e-manage, and using an induction timing light, verified that the timing actually had changed. Its really not hard guys - I'm just trying to help you out. If you want to jump down my throat and call me an ***, than fine....I frankly don't give a damn.
