AWD Turbo K24...

Finally got some prices to get my engine running for now. But I now plan on the K24 swap. I checked the wheel base of the CRV and EX and they're identical. If I remove my fuel tank and put in a fuel cell in the trunk I can fit the AWD tranny. Need to obviously have a custom exhaust... I also may cut the center if the floor to bump things up so everything fit's the way it's supposed to.

Do the Hasport engine mounts work with the K24? In one part is shows the K24 as an option, but the mount kit shows only the K20.

After getting the engine in I want to put my turbo on before the exhaust and all is done. Hopfully this will all work and I'll have a pretty sweet car.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Man that'd be cool as hell.

I bet you could sell your Engine for over 2000.

I say go for it.

I would never get over 2000 for my D17 lol. I'd prob save it as back up until the car is running good with the K24 then sell it cheap.

If it all doesn't work out, then I am DEFINATELY jumping into the DH Shortblock, with a ported head. Should have well past 300whp that way...

I think you could sell it for over 2000. Hell sell it to someone on the site that wants a turbo. They've got a kiler set-up installed, they have a back up motor, and all they have to do is basicaly swap in a nice new turbo engine.

I'd buy it.

I'm keeping a huge part of the turbo system for my AWD K24 man, all I need is a new manifold and fuel system, then some custom pipes...

If I keep the D17, the turbo stays and I have a really fast car.

With the K24, I'll sell the fuel system, pipes, and manifold. I'll have a less fast car but with AWD it'll be fun as hell.

if you can't wait, get the k24 stock engine mounts and weld them to ur engine bay...... you have to get a custom exhaust made.... that would be sick if you could do this, i don't have the resources to do it...

sounds like a shitload of money.... stick with the D17 and turbo you already have, and give up pipe dream of AWD... takes SOOOOOOO much money and people HAVe done it to civics, but the extra weight makes it not worth it.... you will basically have a car that gets a LOT less power to the wheels, is 300 lbs or more heavier (plus weight of swap).. and not handle as well... all that for roughly 10k+ just for the swap to AWD.... not worth it man, but i;ll look at it when you get it done... i;'ll even race ya...

you are also forgettiung honda is in NO WAY shape or form 50-50 bias with power like mitsu or subby... so youre gonna spend BOAT loads of money to get maybe 10-15% of the power to the back wheels, then you will turbo it and snap the rear diff like WOW... interesting idea, but so is a H22 in a metro... doesnt mean it would be good...

Been doing research all day, spending half the money, I can go to DH Racing, and have a very high hp, daily driven car.

Yeah the CRV drive train is not designed to take that muchh power. It would be a waste to do. Do the K24 swap. It will cost you around the same price as what the SF kit cost. You can get the K24 motor cheaper. I've seen them go for arond $1,000 shipped. The use the K20A3 Tranny and ECU. All of it bolts up and works with no problems. And you would be able to get the tranny and ECU for under $800. Until Hasport releases their motor mount kit for the K24 you will have to use the stock K24 mounts. Just weld the two in that need to be welded in. Hell I've seen the K24 with I/H/E and a down pipe make 170whp and 150wtq on a dyno. Just think about the amount it would make with 8 lbs of boost. Hell the K20A3 make 260whp and 210wtq with 8 psi. Thats what I plan on doing. Well the K24 swap at least. I'm not too sure about boosting it yet. Cause adding Hondata's reflash and a set of SI cams the K24 with all the bolt-ons I talked about will make around 200whp and 185wtq. And it will be all motor. With no internal work. Except the SI cams. MMMM that sounds good to me. LOL

well i have been looking at hondata and tsx fourms, and there is NO hondata reflash for them. and it doesn't look like there will be one anytime soon...

why not just get a awd tranny from japan... you wont have to change ur engine... and its a tranny made for our cars...

awd tranny from what car bolts into our cars??? i dont think so.... DH and Sf make the car LOTS faster for the money... with 9 psi i will have over 270hp at the wheels with my ported head etc.... STOCK intake, STOCK block.... dont believe it??? just gander at my dyno sheets in the spring once i pull the car back out and do the headwork and other lil things that noone needs to know about/

future, the awd tranny from the awd 1.7L civic will bolt up... Thing is there will be some fab work because 1)made for the four door 2)i don't think the civics in japan have the flat rear floor, so there may be some cutting involve

i do agree though, sf and dh can make more power than needed for our d17

and if you mean the step wagon then it might fit, but thats a 2.0L.... hmmm.... all this extra weight would suck... screw AWD civics .. we dont make enough power to push that extra few hundred pounds...

i was thinking, you can probly ask some overseas places that sell engines and what not to ship a awd tranny ova here... there are a few places in asia that ship engines and what not over here... don't deal with middle men, that jacks the price up by 2 times

^^^^^Thats just the motor. The K24 can be found in the CRV, Accord, and Element. Its not that high in demand as the K20s are. But all the other K-series parts will bolt up.

See if you want to try 4wd with a civic, your best bet might be getting the trans off of this. I dont think honda trans were built to take that much punishment but then again, who knows. It has k24 mated to it so who knows. Heres a spec sheet for the accord wagon that has 4wd. Its in japanese but all of the important info on there is in english.

Oh and ive asked around about using a cr-v trans for the awd, what ive heard is that the awd trans from the cr-v is crap performance wise because it wasnt built to take that much punishment. Again, you have to cut and weld at random all around that car just to get everthing to be one piece. I really like my civic and my k20, but to get it an awd monster, probably just fantasy and will never be a reality without bo-ku bucks. Sorry for the harse reality guys....

thats what i said before, i dont' think the tranny would be able to take the abuse, how about if the tranny from a tsx would fit? i mean the awd from japan

Would probably work but still dont know if it would be able to handle that much power. I might be the same trans for the crv, dunno. Also have to figure in the wheelbase length from the tsx over in japan, other dimensions, etc. Also ALOT of custom work to be done and hopefully the next door nieghbor who is Honda engineer wouldnt hurt either to get onboard with this project.......

Also, i dont know if any of guys realized this but what about the ecu? Which ecu would you use? If you were to use a crv/tsx/etc ecu you probably wouldnt have the rpm range that you might need for this setup. Then again, if you were going to use a civic/rsx-itr ecu, how would you tell the ecu to engage the rear end, how much power to distribute back there, etc?

You might want a Honda ecu programmer for this project too.......

Im not saying that this project is impossible but still a lot of hurtles you would have to jump for this concept to even see the light of day......

Wow, I guess you were a lil over you head on this one...

That would have been an awesome car. If it actually worked, your car would be talked about Everywhere.
