boost controller, good or bad?
anyone ever heard of the hallman evolution boost controllers?
i was lookin around, and cudnt find anything about it. its sum kind of manual boost contrroller, but u can control it with a **** from inside the car. i cudnt really find anything about it.
link
sounds kinda kool cuz u can change it from inside the car, but i dunno if it works well or wutevr, but its cheaper than a electronic boost controller.

Yeah, I've seen those - nice, but pricey! Depends I guess on which look you are going for.....Those have cables which run from your wastegate to the cabin, vs an electronic controller's wiring. Supposed to be more accurate than an electronic boost controller.

manual ones are nice cause they are set then DONE... as long as they dont lose setting over time due to coming loose??? ive heard it can happen.. im selling mine (turbo XS manual, $80 shipped).. like new if anyone wants it... im fine with one setting till i can afford the profecBspec ver. 2... nicetst and most relable boost controll on market imp, just its $300.. LOL... let me know if anyone interested...
You'll be happier with an electronic. Although some people feel the manual is more reliable I don't feel that's the case. If you know your electronic controller it's more reliable. The only thing that could go wrong aside from total unit failure is that the solenoid could go bad, but most controllers have a default that if it detects the failure of the solenoid it will open the WG.
The profec B spec 2 is great I have it on my 7. Very easy to use. If it's too pricey for you and you don't want the light up display get the original profec B. These are nice because you've got two boost settings (hi and lo), you've got a gain function to control how fast your boost comes on. The only units that have more features would be the blitz and the Apex which both allow you to program boost gain per rpm and boost level per rpm. Those features aren't really worth the extra 300 bucks to me though.

avc-r and blitz units are both VERY nice.. but in numerous tests tehy had boost spikes and problems holing correct boost... profec speb B has tested mosdt reliable time and time again... 2 stages of boost is most controll for most people.. plus you can get the steering wheel switch top activate second boost so you dont need to hit a little button... VERY nice unit, never heard anyone that had it complain...
they only thing you have to watch with the profec b spec 2 is that if you have it set to read in psi the warning will come on a full 2 psi befor your set warning. IE if you set your boost at 8 and set your warning at like 8.5 then at 6.5 the warning will hit and ramp down the boost. In bars it will not do this. That may have been fixed by now.
