How long should engine swap take?

I left my car at a shop in San Jose,CA called BlackTrax to do my K20A2 swap. I wonder if any of you know how long should this kind of swap take?
They started on last friday and when i called them this morning, they told me that they were working on the steering lines and stuff and they haven't got to putting the engine in yet.
BTW, i'm doing the hardest swap ever (i think) because my civic is a LX auto tran, and i'm converting it into stick shift and swaping the engine. Don't know when will this be done.........

i dont think its all that much harder to do just because its a auto even if your civic is a stick you still need to swap the tranny. my civic is a auto and i will consider doing a swap in a year or 2.

Well if they know what they are doing it should only take them a couple of weeks. There is alot of wiring to do. Not to mention the Key Code problems.

i dunno about engine swaps, but it seems to me as if all shops, even normal body repair shops or wutever take their time wen doing anything. either because they want to be careful, or sometimes just to charge more money or sumthin. speed image in san jose (never go here, bad plaec imo i only went ehre to buy light bulbs) told my friend it wud take 1-2 hours to install his intake, my friend and i instaled it in like 30 minutes.
i dont kno how engine swapping goes, but i bet if they realyl wanted to finish it quickly, they cud intsall it a lot faster than it will really take them if they realyl spent time on it working hard and crap. but i guess its better to go slow and make sure every thing is right, better safe than sorry.

from what i know, usually it takes a week or 2 depending on the shop. I've known shops that swapped in a b16 into a older gen civic over night ( 2 days total). I think the k20a2 swap may take up to 2 weeks...give them time man...don't rush the shop, let them take as long as needed...this is your life on the line here, don't take it too lightly. They do a good job, u're life will be secure, and u'll have a kickass car too...if u rush em, they much do a iffy job, and you might find urself in an accident in the near future. Good luck man!

you know, going from auto to stick with k20a2 is hard, cuz there's a bracket that connects the engine to the engine bay is totally different from the stick civic engine bay. and it's not inculded in the hasport mounts, so the shop had to special order it from honda dealer.

i don't know what they are going to do with the wiring and stuff.
hasport suppose to have wiring harrness set for k20 swap, but somehow they haven't put it on their website yet.

Key Code is very easy to fix, i just order the Hondata ECU flash, they will clear and reset the key code.

i got a really good deal for the engine, it only has 127miles on it and cost me 3500. the engine came with subframe, ecu, axles, tran, and wiring harness. then i spent 200 on civic paddles and rsx shifter assmebly. 650 on hasport engine mounts, 720 on hondata ecu flash(must flash ecu to match the key code), there are some other small parts that i don't know how much yet ( such as fuel lines, steering pump, and etc. ) and finally, the labor cost about 1700

so if i'm only doing the engine swap, the total is about 7000

my swap took about 2 months to do. There was a lot of little stuff that you dont even think of when you are doing it that come up and hold you back. I know it took HASport a weekend to do the swap, and that was from auto to stick...but they knew what they were doing, and they had a junk yard right accross the street from them. Good luck with your swap, question...why did you get the short header?...you might get like 2 whp out of it. In some cases, it has been proven to actually take away hp. Dont ask me how, i just read the dyno charts. Are you doing the 5-lug conversion? If not, make sure to get 2002 Civic Si axles, i tried the GSR ones, they dont work. Keep us updated.

thanks for the tip~
my engine didn't come with a airbox, so i thought might as well get a short ram.
and my car will still be 4 lugz, but i'm not sure which axles they will be using though.

from my knowledge, they've never done a k20a2 swap yet.
when i went to them, they asked me to find most of the parts for them. so in my case, i ordered most of the big parts and have them shipped to blacktrax, and they took care of the small parts (steering pump, axles and stuff)

mine didnt come with an air box either...so i got a CAI, its the best with other mods like Hondata, TODA, and so on.
If you are keeping the 4-lug like what i did, the ONLY axles that work are the 2002 Civic Si axles. From dealer they are about 2 grand...yes really, 2 grand. But, you can get Civic Si axles from HASport that work as well for a fraction of the price.

That's a crazy swap yoo.... but keep everybody posted on how it's running afterwards...my friend did a swap not to long ago. It took him about a week. He put in a type-r motor and all the necessary gizmos. It all depends on the shop. They might have other cars to work on as well

i think the shop was able to get all the parts form junk yard, execpt for the radiator and a special auto->stick bracket.

but so far they haven't told me how much all these parts cost yet.
i only know that the labor will be 1700....

Import Builders in Fullerton, CA did htowncivics swap and they did a lot of custom stuff, I remember them saying they used GSR axles with custom ends. You can e-mail them questions through their site.
