Are you cheap? Or are your pockets full of cold, hard green cash?

B18C5, if you've got the cash.

B16A2, if you're broke. Just build it up before you drop it in. Do some headwork, pistons, cams, everything.

b16a2 jdm version, uhh those are costly, be better to get a b16a1, you can get those for dirt cheap.

you have to ask yourself what you want out of the car? You want it to be a 1/4 beast? you want a weekend screamer that can be daily driven as well? You just want something that can pull from stop light to stop light?...
If you want something fun, get a B16A1...you will be happy with the performance, and there is lots of potential. You want to get beastly on it, get a B18C5...it will be worth the extra cash. If you want an amazing 1/4 screamer, get a B18 LS long block, with a B18C1 head, build the bottem end, and some headwork, and turbo it. There is always the H22 route as well. One of those in a HB just NA will land you easily in the 13's.
There are plently out ways to go...you just have to decide how much money you are willing to spend, and what you want out of the car.

Im putting a b18b1 (LS) swap in my 95 dx hatchback this week. I chose the b18b1 because I like the torque it has in stock form and I plan to turbo it in the future. Plus, if I really want to I can add the b18c1 head so it can breathe better. I don't like the b16a2 just because it has no torque I don't like waiting to get going.

I know some guys here in town using JDM B16A and H22's (Prelude) in their 92-95 hb's and they're flat out monsters. The B16A is getting almost a 10,000 RPM redline...

yeah, h22 is one of the best damn engines. too bad you have to do MAJOR work to get the thing at its highest potential....

Go with a B18B, you won't regret it, torque is what you need for a daily driver. B16s are good for reving but you need to rev it to feel power. Once you turbo charge an LS motor it becomes a torque monster!! B16s will have killer top end with a turbo and is good for freeway races. I have to say though Turbo GSR is the best of both worlds but you pay the price.

H22 in a hatch!!!!!!! That will be fast a hell. If you have the cast get the h22 if not get the b18 if you dont have money for that save up because the b16 is good but once you have it you will want the b18 or h22.

Actually B16 is OBD 0 (Cable Tranny). b16a2 is OBD II (Hydro Tranny, in Civic Si's 99,00), and b16a3 is OBD I (Hydro, Del Sols) and all come with 160 hp and no torque....

why are you guys only suggesting old engine, ****, put a k20a in that biatch... first of all u got the lightest hatch cause there isn't power anything and second of all ova here in LA some guy put a k20a in his stripped hatch, 220 hp. he does 12.6 all day long with only a intake, imagine, you could get 11's if you get a exaust and a few other little upgrades
