7th Gen H22A Swap?

Has anyone thought about this other than myself? Or mebbe even the K20 swap? I'm thinking next Summer is when I'll do mine but was wondering if anyone else has looked into this at all?

Alotta people thought about doing a K20 swap man!! believe that but about that H22 swap if i'm not mistaken i think there';s like the yellow ciivc that's sponsored by AEM that has that H22 swap i think not sure!! All i know is that there;s a yellow civic out there with a H22 in it and with an H22 swap i think you would have to get thr front extended if i'm not mistaken so i think you would be better off with the K20 unless you got the money to put in a H22 with some major modifications!!

Welcome to the Forums by the way!!

H22 isn't legal because of the emissions laws in most states and provinces as far as I know. The K series is the most popular because it is legal and it's also been documented and proven to be a great swap.

The "Yellow" car you are talking about is AEMs drag car. It is a tube chassis(sp?) with a 7thgencivic shell on it.

Alot of K20s have been swapped into a 7thgencivic. I do not think there is enough room to fit a H22 under the hood.

it's actually a NSX Motor in the AEM Drag Car. I saw it in 1st person and talked to Stephen Papadakis!

you need a custom intake manifold before you even want to consider putting one of those in your car. The K20A or K20A2 would be the best swap for the car...im not being partial or anything. K series responds better to mods anyways.

Yeah I know it's going to be expensive either way I go..K20 is $7000 though I don't think I can spend THAT kind of money..the H22A swap isn't too bad about prolly in the end spending $5000 but we'll see..I know the engine bay is pretty tight for the H22A and for the K20 yeah I wish I had that kind of money..Talking to a local shop now and seeing if it will fit with the H22A..so we'll have to wait n' see..if not I will make it fit!!!

you can fit an H22 however i would suggest going with the K series motor bc the H and B series are slowly dying out and the K has more potential..
oh and
02' AEM drag civic = H22
03' AEM drag civic = NSX motor

H22 is also alot heavier than a K20. Lighter=better.

yeah I doubt if you can get a H22 in your car and get it to pass emissions.
the H22 needs to be turned sideway and magor modification to the front end of the
car and hood to fit.

emmissions do not allow older engines to be put in a newer car.

not that i have any intentions of doing it, but just out of curiousity, would the front have to be extended to fit the nsx engine under the hood. that would be a sick swap if someone could actually pull that our of their ***

That would be an interesting swap, how ever much that would cost. If you put a 2001 h22a in a 2001 civic, that is legal.

everyone stop saying its illegal ... it doesnt matter... its illegal to speed but everyone does it.. and if u live in a state that checks emissions then register it in a state that doesnt have emissions.. its not that hard people

The H22 in Steven Papadakis' 01 Civic coupe had to be custom built and dropped in sidewards.. kinda like how muscle cars are.

" The AEM machine has a carbon-fiber body, a new chassis, and the boldest move of all, a longitudinally mounted Honda engine under the hood. "

Thats what I meant by sidewards, sorry I didn't have all the terminology down. Trust me I've seen this car a few times. :]

LIES!!! ALL LIES!! sorry guys. when Sport Compact Car asked Mugen what motor they liked working on the best they said the H22 because it is so responsive to modifications. By people saying the K series is more responsive then a H series motor thats taking it a little too far. It might be older then a K20, no doubt, but new doesnt mean better. oh, and Sport Compact Car is willing to drop an H22 motor in a new civic.. if you got the money.
