engine swap or turbo

Basic question is either engine swap my 2003 civic ex engine wit the rsx type s engine (may or may not turbo that engine if its not too much) or get a custom turbo or twin turbo for the existing civic engine. Money wise the engine swap would be around 5k-6k and turbos for that engine go for bout 2.5k-3k. It would produce(im guessing) around 320-350 hp. If i do a regular turbo it would produce about 200, but the problem is that there is no turbo kit for the new civic currently, it has to be custom. How much would a custom turbo be for the civic? twin turbo?

im just looking for experience. cause a twin turbo has to be custom, and maybe doing a engine swap and turboing that engine wit an existing turbo kit might give better performance and maybe even cheaper.

if you swap in a RSX T-S and turbo that, that would be the shiz, cybernation can help u out with a kit on that one, as far as twin turbo is concerned heck yea it would have to be custom, personally i dont think it would fit under the hood, second our civic motors can flow enough air to make a twin turbo setup work, it all depends on how much want to spend, $$$ is the key

Ok man - I see you have like 75 posts or something. So you should know how to use the search button or something. But yeah - if you are crazy enough you could do a twin turbo set up (spend LOTS of money in the process I'm sure).

But seriously, a K20 with turbo will cost some bills - like probably $10-13,000 (7k for the swap, another 4k for the cybernation turbo).

Badass setup - but think what kind of a down payment that would make too.....Sti?

RSX type-S so whatever engine code that is yea, and yes it will fit in there and unless u get some ungodly huge turbo it will fit, u can do any of the things u have mentioned but just not the twin turbo thing...swap and turbo, just turbo, or just swap

STI=ok

2003 civic w/ k20a2 twin turbo=might cost a pretty penny but think about the uniqueness

Yeah I know about the uniqueness - but I was also thinking about the resale value. If you turbo your car you're closer to stock than with a K20 - might make back at least a LITTLE more when you sell it vs going with a K20. That's one of my big things, I've been thinking about the resale value. Its just not worth putting a K20 in my vic (to me) since if I ever sell the beast I'll never get nowhere NEAR what I put into it. Little mods such as a strut bar, etc are easy to remove and sell - a K20 isn't.....

well im new to engine swapping, is it even legal? If it isnt, is it a risk since probably there r no guarantees of the engines quality. Wat im saying there would be no warranties on them or something. And well another question, how much hp could a turbo and exhaust system wit the required engine mods *required to accomodate the turbo* add in hp and torque wise?

hahah.... at least 6.0 sec.

That is funny.....

Dude, just turbo the engine you have in the car. I went 13.6 on the stock engine, on my LOW BOOST SETTING. I got kicked off the track before i could turn the boost up, because i didnt have a helmet.

And to correct something you said, there are turbo kits for the 7thgen civics. I know this, because i build them, i sell them, and i install them.

I am suprised you didnt know that there were turbo kits available.

its alot better for price....
a k20a2 is gonna run u 7 thousand (including install) + another wat...4-6 for a cybernation turbo
Your gonna be faster... with k20a2 but spend the 7 thousand when you can get a good one for 3 somethin and then upgrade some internals and be in the 10's??
i think the k20 runs 15's stock @200 hp... the d17a2 does high 16's.. 17's if i were u id just get the SF kit.. give em a call
