B Series in 7thgens?
Is it possible? I mean we do run basically the same engine as all the Civic's before us? I mean if you wanted to swap would you have to go with K Series or is it possible to use a B-18C or something like that? Just curious.

Its only illegal in emissions states. Depending on your state and whether or not there are emissions laws, you could do it. And I am sure the swap can be done, it's just a matter of having mounts fabricated.
My question to you is why would you put a b series motor in your car? I raced a 6th gen non si sedan with a b16 swap and cai and he barely beat me (at the time I was stock except for sri) by like 2 cars. It's so ineffiecient and you're losing displacement. My suggestion is just boost your d motor and build it for less than the cost of a b motor plus turbo.

Hasport is suppose to be working on a motormount kit that would transplant a Bseries engine in the 7th gen bay.
And by the way the Bseries is alot easier to extract power out of then the k20. And also alot less expensive, take the 5grand for the k20 when you can build a three hunderd horse B18 for that.

Heres your answer on if its illegal. You are not legally allowed to install a motor that is older than your car. So, if you have a 2001 civic you can but a B-series that came out of a 2001 integra. If you have a 2002 or a 2003 civic, your out of luck. And you can not put a B16 in your civic. The B16 was in the 1999-2000 SI, so the motor would be older than your 2001 civic. Understand? It is not worth it. And as for the B-series being faster, only time will tell. Right now some of the b-series are, but in the next few years when every part is made for the K-series then you can do a full comparison. As of right now, the K-series is doing better with boost. The new SI K20A3 motor with the stage one cybernation turbo kit puts out 262whp and 209wtq. Show me a B16 with no internal work make that amount of power.
First, I am not saying that the K series is bad. Just a bit expensive to get and more expensive to modify.
Second, a D-16 is pretty damn close to a D-17, so the mounting can not be too far off. Not exact by any means, but most likely possible.
Now the engines are easier to get, cheaper to buy, and cheaper to modify. Much more parts are available NOW.
As for emissions, some people in harsh states are out of luck in some circumstances. But in the free states, where air quality is important, not just a bogus set of rules, you can do this. Just like the saying in the ads "FOR RACE OR OFFROAD PURPOSES ONLY". IN my state, this swap would be legal. But I don't have smog inspections here.
And I would do a B series much sooner than I would do a K series swap. Past that, I would turbo my car, after the warranty goes bye bye.

The emission laws that we are speaking of are sweeping across North America. They've been here in Ontario for almost 3 years now....This thing will be so hard to escape that I don't see how anyone would want to spend money on an engine that will make their car into a "Trailer Queen".
There are lots of ways to build a K series. I'm gonna build a K20A2 this winter complete with all the internals done and so on...

You can do it in CT... and we have emissions and inspections. You just have to fill out a form and do an initial safety inspection and it has to pass normal emissions (which it would).
last i checked, a couple months back, HASPORT said that they were not working on the b series kit any more because they found that there was no market for it since it is illegal
