engine swap or turbo
engine swap or turbo
Which one do you think will create the most power, an engine swap or a turbo. I just want information before I actually do anything. If a turbo is better could you tell me where and which one to get. If a engine swap is better could you tell me where and which one to get. Thanks for the help.

well if you swap, you could always turbo that!
i would personally like the engine swap, but if your on a budget, i would go with the turbo
engine swap: look around ebay for k20 motor, hondawerx could help you out with that
turbo: you could go with sfpower, turbodiscounters, max-rev, or custom turbo...heard great things with sfpower's turbo so far

yeh, personally i'd go with a swap too. if you're like me and only care about performance without money in question, just swap, then you have a better engine with room for improvement, of course n/a would my choice if i went with the k20, haven't heard too many great things with rsx turbo kits at clubrsx.com
I think the swap is the way to go. It will give you the reliabilty of the stock RSX, roughly the same wheel horsepower as the turbo, and obviously zero spool-up lag. It will cost more to do the swap but the price IS coming down. In time it may be possible to do the swap for less than $3000 total. At that point, the swap will probably be the way that I go myself.
I'd say turbo for cost effectiveness. There are finally enough parts available to get the kind of power that you would want. A k20a2 swap is going to run you about 7k not including install. Turbo setup will run about 5k with all electronics that you need along with gauges to run safely. As far as buildup, you can lower compression with forged pistons, crower rods, new cam, valves, valvesprings, retainers, clutch, axle, port and polish, intake manifold or bored tb and possibly a block guard and get well over 300 whp without compromising reliability or engine longevity.
So for well under 10k (which is closer to a k20a2 swap completely) you'll be getting well over an additional 100 whp and spending so much less(not to mention that you can crank the boost up so much more with a built motor.) I say boost is the way to go, any engine has potential if you just try to unlock it.

look at me. I have the SF base kit with alcohol injection, and i am running 11 psi of boost daily. I blow the doors off of RSX-S with I/H/E all day long. I am not being cocky, im just saying. You can get the same setup that on my car for about $3100, and then install will run (at most) $500. But it is easy enough to install yourself. Then you will have an awesome torque curve, along with a ton of power.

What will your swap give you?
