Turbo install on RICEBURNER's ex!
I gave RiceBurner a hand this weekend with his turbo installation. All in All i would have to say it went pretty well. It def. took A LOT of time and we had some minor problems but seemed to work them all out. The hardest part was the intercooler piping, everything just seemed to be a little shorter than what we needed and the placement of the bov was very strange. I did think that it was a quality kit and should produce some good hp numbers and times. I would say the engine bay def. looks nicer now with a turbo in there
. We started about 4 sat. and worked till 12:30 (started with like 10 people and went down to 2 by 11 ). Then sun. from 10 till 1-2 then i left, i believe he finished around 6 or so. One suggestions though, when just getting your car back from being painted dont have a 3 foot metal T-square hanging 1 foot away
(good thing you had that preventive dent in there so you wouldn't get mad). Now you get to help my install my turbo setup on my 00' si , and then we will hit up the track

. Well when you are standing at the front of the car instead of the intake pipe coming off the throttle body and going toward the left (like stock or reg. intake). The main piping goes up and makes a 90 deg. turn straight down to the right. Where the pipe is at there is very very little spacing and the pipe goes down maybee 4 inches and then that is where the blow off valve sits. It is just very cramed (sp?) down there where it sits. I mean i have never seen a kit before for a 7th gen. so maybee thats normal. I know on my kit the intake pipes comes off to the left (also i have a side throttle body) and the blowoff valve sits on that so it is in the open air instead of all packed in a tight spot. I'm sure it prob. doesnt make a diff., just thought it was odd.

yeah... I saw pics of it on the other car. It is kind of weird, but it may actually be beneficial too, in a small sort of way: it doesn't have to pass on top of the transmission or go near the manifold... it's gotta keep it a few degrees cooler I would think. I dunno.
I never really thought about that but yea i guess that is true! It just seems weird having the main intake piping coming straight up from down below then making a 180 deg. turn right at the throttle body.

Wow, I dony check the forums for a few days and my friends start posting my install for me...lol
Due to the insane amount of time in the install I wont be doing a DIY at the moment, but if anyone has any problems w/ their kit just PM me.

No there was no welding, he had a little kit that came with the turbo, and all you had to do was drill the hole and then tighten the nut on to pull it together. It was simple and only took 15 min. Now getting the oil pan off that was a diff. story :-)

It's the TurboDiscounters kit. You can find it in the GB section... or you can go to their website and check it out. TurboDiscounters.com
