Rep Power: 170 Road To Mani Swap: The Junkyard
Hello all. Anyone who has wanted to do the d16y8 manifold swap lately has had to teach themselves. There are no good diys out there for it, so id thought I would do the swap and create a diy after I have all the parts and the money to buy them lol.
Heres the money ive saved up for the manifold and no, you cant have any nos
Heres the ONLY D17 at the yard. yes, the ONLY one
My d16 valve cover theft deterrent. If anyone wants some, $20
I took the valve cover earlier this year, other than that the engine has most of the parts
This is what happens to your honda when its not taken care of
First Acura I saw
Aaaaannnnnddddd...
JDM!!!!!
Found a d16y8!! Yesss!!!!
But, its a manual, and were searching for an auto so we dont have to block up these little buggers
Another d16y8!! Fingers crossed
YES!!! THE SEARCHING HAS CONCLUDED!!!!
Halfway through taking it off
And we are complete!!
After I clean it, I plan on making a thread on fuel injector and throttle body options. I want to complete this swap using as little money as possible. If you guys have any suggestions on keeping the d17 throttle body and fuel injectors chime in. Support and a diy will come.

Hey how do you think the idle will be? Im keeping the d17 throttle body and im porting a hole for the iacv right now same size as stock. Why would idle differ?

Your adding way more air at idle and the ecu won't be able to adjust sufficiently at idle. Very few people have done the swap without k-pro, the few people who didn't have k-pro have at least a Fi/C.. so it's tough to give a 100% answer if your car will be drivable with a totally stock ecu

Im trying to figure out why the engine will flow air more idle. With the stock d17 iacv ports, you would think it would flow the same through that tiny port? Im machining a matched port in the d16y8 mani, but if i kept it smaller, would it flow less air? because the engine takes what it needs, and i understand the d16y8 mani allows it to breathe better, but does it actually allow the engine to consume more air than before? Im going to talk to a mechanic tomorrow about it
