Roads To Drive?

Ok, it's 11:45 and you live in the suburbs of Chicago/Chicago area. You have a real itch to go for a drive, but you don't know what roads are fun with twists and turns at high speeds...

This was me last night. I found a cool straight-line road: 58 (Golf Road) just west of Barrington Road. Only problem was that I saw a lot of deer on the side of the road and there's the huge possibility of them running out in front of my car. What's a good thrill ride late at night?

if i'm not mistaken, that road is nearly pitch black at night. plus, theres lots of dips on the road that make it hard to see ahead. i wouldnt suggest speeding on that road for those reasons, plus deer.

Yea, with your brights on it's not so dark, but the dips and the deer make it bad. I was just exploring a little last night and thought it was a cool road.

Yea, but the Roselle cops got it out for me real bad. Almost all (6 out of 7) of my tickets were given to me by the RPD. I don't like speeding around the Elgin...

Where do you live and go to school? I'm in Itasca right by the corner of 53 and Lake Street (20)...

There are some nice twisty roads following the Rock River, although I can't remember exactly where; It's been so long.

Lower Wacker drive is always a dangerous favorite, but I hear there's some nasty construction down there now.

vince i wouldnt suggest taking summit at high speeds.. like you said there are dips and deer as well as sneaky 5.0 sitting in the dark..

rhein, if you take sterns to newport.. try driving along the 2 miles its pretty fun accelerating through the turns, however, be careful and do it only when there is no traffic since newport tend to narrow quite a bit on the turns for some reason.. and army trail going west is fun as soon as you approach bartlett rd.. theres a crazy as dip there where i bottomed out once.. not even lowered.. fun ****.. but it was scary at first..

Well, I knew of this one road down by Wheaton that connected Butterfield & Roosevelt (I think... I doubt it was Roosevelt tho) that was nothing but s-turns and 4 lanes. You guys know what I'm talking about? I know it hits Butterfield for sure. And what do you mean by summit Keith? 58 west of Barrington?

I think I'll try out Army Trail (not tonight obviously), that sounds fun but I'll keep a good eye out for that dip because I AM lowered.

And I've heard that 20, west of Villa Street, is really secluded from Cops between like 31 and McLean in the dead of night. I knew a couple guys from school that would do I guess what you could call Initial D style races up there (rolling start, then drag). But I'm not really looking for a drag strip, more of a scenic, high speed road.

Also, since some are from around me, where do most tuners meet on Friday and Saturday nights? I remember last summer that if you weren't part of a team or drove a bike then there wasn't much room for you at Woodfield; and Stratford got broken up because the cops found out that they would travel up to Schaumburg to drag (by the Marathon on Wise Road if you know what I'm talking about).

golf turns into summit after barrington rd, going west. same thing 58 lol.

anyways, i remember there was a "ricer" hotspot somewhere in barrington like years ago. friday night runs were set up during the meets on the mcdonalds on barrington and irving park... i dont know if they still meet there. when i had my cd5, my cousins wanted to set me up a race with a "boosted" one... which was stupid cuz all i had was a fart can (ricer days ::sigh:

There are some that meet up at a BK Lounge in Schaumburg... but I remember it being overrun with Jettas, Golfs, and muscle cars towards the end of the summer.

How about some more roads? I'm gonna hit Army Trail tonight probably. Would be cool if I saw another 7th gen out there (nudge nudge).

XD

I don't know about 53... I see a lot of county Sheriffs on there.

I ran Army Trail last night. Took it all the way down to 25, then turned around, went to Munger (both ways), then to Sterns. I started heading back home but I didn't see Newport and I wanted to know where that intersection that Rhein was talking about.

BTW, AT was cool, especially that 2mi strip of road you were talking about. I think I found the dip you were talking about, by Bartlett High School? But I didn't bottom out and I was goin like 65-70...
