Civic Meets?
Civic Meets?
Hey guys i have some friends with some 7thgens and they were asking if there is gonna be any meets anytime soon?... I think sometime before it starts to snow would be cool.. Let me know! Thanx all
well thats what our august meet was supposed to be... another big one. but as for the bar meets, fuzz is right about not everyone being 21+. if anyone is willing to take initiative, lets get a large group meet at chicago ondoor racing. i think alot of us would like that.
There are a few..
US41 (Morrocco Indiana) - http://us41dragway.com/index.php?page=schedule It's still running
RT66 (Joliet) - http://www.chicagolandspeedway.com/c...=9XYEyBUhp&N=a They are done for the year
Great Lakes Dragway (Union Grove, WI) - http://www.greatlakesdragaway.com/in...?page=schedule still open

Yeah, those are all 1/4 mile drag ways. RT66 also has a superspeedway, road race track, dirt track and everything else under the sun. Big place.
I'd attend, but I wouldn't embarass myself running the civic down the 1/4 hehe.
Those website links should take you directly to the pages that display the schedule at those tracks. Just look for test and tune days.

US41 is older and a little dumpier, but I like it more than GLD. I like not having to go to Wisconsin mainly.. (I try to stay out of that state) the trip to 41 is easy, and there is always lots of variety to watch plus bonus hillbilly cars you usually don't see at 66.
Rt66 is definitly the cleanest, nicest, most impressive one of the bunch. If you go to run at 66, there is usually very long wait times between passes. Either someone blows up and they take an hour cleaning the track, or there are just so many people waiting.. you sit endlessly waiting your turn. To watch it's fine, but if you want to make passes - your probably better off at 41 or GLD where you can gets lots of passes if you want them.
At this point, since 66 is done it'll be between 41 or GLD. I'd rather go sit and watch at 41 myself, but I suppose as long as it's a day I'm free on I'd be willing to drive to GLD also. I don't know how many cars still come out when it's cooler like this though. I'm sure at the least, I can bring along a SVT Lightning.. he's always game if you give him a few bucks for gas.
hehe
If people are interested, lets do it.. are there any fast civics around that will run, or are we all basically spectators?

haha, well I dont know about you guys, but since my engine mods baiscly consist of a SRI and NGK plugs... im gonna have to say im a spectator
October 29th they have box racing.. . You can run a slow *** 18sec car against a 11 sec car and win.. you just have to get closer to your dial in without going under the exact time you give on your entry (breaking out it's called).
I think it costs $50 per entrant to get into the box racing, and the final winner gets a good portion of the entrance fees.. I believe half the money goes to the track, then the largest chunk goes to the last standing racer.. places 2 and 3 also get somthing, but not much.
It would be great to see a slow poke civic win in box racing. It's quite possible too! If you get zero wheel spin, and can drive the car the same every time + get the same time every time, try it.
You give them a time you believe you can hit every time.. say you know your car runs 16.55 all day long.. you'd probably dial in to 16.50 or use what ever stragey you think is best. Your opponent will also have a dial in time, which can be any time. Who ever gets closer to the dial in, wins the round regardless of trap speed, et, reaction time or anything. If you break out and run 16.54 or lower, you automatically lose unless your opponent breaks out worse than you did (goes under by more).
Last time I watched, two low 10 second bikes ended up in the finals. I don't know how the heck that happened, and I'd never expect to see it that way. I'd expect the slower cars that don't have to worry about wheel spin be coming closest to dial in every time. Automatic tranny would probably be beneficial as well.
Somthing to consider.
