Laps For Charity II
DRIVE AROUND TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY AND HELP NEEDY CHILDREN - 8/30/2005
Want to wheel your personal vehicle around the high banks of Texas Motor Speedway? Have you dreamed about driving on the same speedway as Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Dan Wheldon, Danica Patrick and Mark Martin? What would it be like to get your picture taken in the speedway's Victory Lane, just like all the race winners?
The answer to all these questions can be found at Texas Motor Speedway Saturday evening, September 10 with Laps for Charity II. The evening will benefit Speedway Children's Charities-Texas Chapter and hundreds of agencies and groups that assist children throughout North Texas. Laps for Charity II will be conducted from 5 - 10 p.m. in the infield of Texas Motor Speedway. Entry will be available at the South Tunnel between turns one and two of the superspeedway.
Fans can drive their personal vehicles around The Great American Speedway for three laps at a controlled speed for a $25 donation to Speedway Children's Charities. Fans can have a photo of themselves and their car in Victory Lane for a $10 donation. Fans may take multiple laps around the speedway by getting in line following their laps.
Group time reservations are available by calling Speedway Children's Charities at (817) 215-8421.
Drivers must be at least 21 years of age to participate in Laps for Charity II with all passengers at least six years old. Seat belts must be worn by all participants. Motorcycle riders are invited and must wear a helmet during the event.
Speedway Children's Charities-Texas Chapter has distributed more than $2.7 million to child aid agencies in Tarrant, Dallas, Denton and Collin counties since its inception in 1997.

That's an excellent event. I wish I was closer, I'd go. If anyone does attend, take pictures. Driving on the speedway is awesome, I did it in Atlanta. It's worth it, plus it helps a charity!
