Hey do you guys know what the law is for having undercar neons, cause I've heard all kinda of crap. I've heard you can as long as the bulbs don't show and I've heard you can't so what is it really? I don't have them any more cause the relays went out cause I think water got inside it. Hey how can you prevent that from happening again? I'm thinkin about gettin them again, cause I know it's kinda rice but I don't care I liked it.
they usually don't care too much, it's more of a secondary offense (they don't pull you over for it usually but will add on to your ticket for it if they pull you over for another reason)
Contact your local DPS... But to my understanding your can't not have undercar neons on while driving. Also for lighting laws... Front of car: headling white only, no blue/purple/gold even for tint color in the headlight. No blue or red in the front what-so-ever. Turn signal must be amber. For the rear: Brake lights are red only. Turn signals must be amber or red. No other colors!!! Plate lights can only be white also. Hope this helps!!!

well... i talked with a lawyer, and looked at the WHOLE section in the law book about lighting laws.. it doesn't say anything about neons, it's kinda tricky on what it does say... he basically told NO they are NOT illegal to have on while driving.
i have no clue. i know that in our town, we all just chill in the parking lots with em on... and they dont say anything. a few of us have even pulled out of the lots and forgot to turn them off for a few blocks... cops have seen us and never did anything.

That's wrong. Front turn signals can be a range from white to amber. Look it up, I don't feel like looking up the link.

Accually it amber only. My brother is was a Houston police officer and I ask him this very same question.
make sure you check your local (county/city) laws as well.
here in san angelo, we arent allowed to have the led windshield sprayers (thank god), and i dont think were supposed to have lights inside the car, like neons.
the best thing to do it go to your local DMV/Highway patrol/Safety department/etc...
and just ask.

So try to have a clue what you are talking about before you try to correct someone. have a nice day
Ok guys, here is the law on neons.
According to Chapter 547, subchapter D and E of the Texas Transportation Code Book, it says nothing bout neon lights. Neons are considered accent lighting and therefore is not in the book cause its not required. Generally, anything not required or authorized is considered prohibited,
particularly if it can be shown to be distracting to other drivers or a
driving hazard. Exceptions are for special purposes, for example road
construction vehicles, emergency vehicles, and other special vehicles.
The common practice to circumvent these laws is to install the lighting
under the vehicle, out of direct view, so that the light is cast downward
illuminating the ground. State law is silent on this issue (in this case
silence is not golden) and the federal regulations do not prohibited it,
except for taking the place or interfering with any required lamp,
especially the license plate lamp.
This is a technical loophole. As with all technical or legal loopholes, it
is not understood by everyone to include some law enforcement personnel. All
questions of law are finally resolved in court.
To put it simply, while you may be able to drive the vehicle with the accent
lights illuminated and not receive a citation, there may come a time when
you are cited and the judge agrees with the officer. Your only recourse will
be to appeal the decision until you reach a court that recognizes the
loophole and you may still lose.
This is from an e-mail I recieved from the DPS after I e-mailed them the same question!!!!!!!!
Enjoy!
