oil leak

1996 civic ex.

I have a top engine oil leak. Not the valve cover, dizzy o ring or v tec solenoid.

I noticed right under the dizzy there is a plug molex style with a bolt type connector going into the engine that seems to have oil right under it. I have attached a diagram, which is it?

It looks like 12 or 13, but 14 is a drain plug on the block, is that possible?

Number 12 on the diagram is: 012 001 SENSOR ASSY., KNOCK (MATSUSHITA)

Number 13: is 013 001 SWITCH, OIL PRESSURE (TEC)

Number 14 is: 014 001 BOLT, DRAIN PLUG (28MM)

Re: oil leak

if it is really coming from those sensors, it could just need a new o-ring.

I am not 100% sure, but I am hoping that diagram is what I am thinking are the right sensors. The one sensor that screws in I am wondering if that has an oring.

Re: oil leak

they should, the oil pressure im 99% sure has rubber ring, the knock sensor may have a metal crush washer. in which case, youre better off using nylon. it selas much better when a metal one leaks. nylon tends to warp a bit when heated, so its good to check on it every so often. i have to use them as oil drain plug washers on the accord or else it will leak bad. ive never had an issue tho for a year at a time.

If I need to remove these sensors to check do you think they will hard to loosed because of age? Is it better to use a socket or wrench?

Also, where is the best place to get the, crush washer or oring? and how tight should I make them?

I found this for b16 engine, but it is the same spot I am having issues and that part looks like my knock sensor. The whole area under is covered with oil.

Re: oil leak

auto parts stores sell washers and o-rings. they should come off fairly easily since there is prolly oil penetration in the threads. use a socket wrench if possible.

Re: oil leak

Here is a pic of my car, what is that sensor? It has 2 wires going to it, I am not sure if it is the knock sensor, because I noticed a pic of one online and it had only one lead to it.

I think it is this 013 001 SENSOR ASSY., WATER TEMPERATURE (TW5) (MATSUSHITA), can that leak oil????
