push button start!!
ok.. so im stuck right now... im trying to figure out which wires im supposed to tap into
i dont want to use relays, so im trying to figure out which wire im supposed to have connecting in order to start the car
i would still like to use the key
ill start checking other wires...
pm me please about it
heres what i tried so far
starter wire has not changed.. black/white
my switch has 4 contacts, 1 for the direct power, which i chose to connect to the battery(-4 is what they labelled it)
1 to ignition wire(-3) i tapped into the black/white wire
1 to ground (x2) i just ran it straight into my ground
1 to power when the ignition is on (x1) black/red wire..
this is the right wiring as far as i know.. but nothing happens...
i press the clutch, and the button, but nothing

Ive read Sooo many DIY's all over the place last night. Most people used relay, You dont need it at all with OEM honda starter button. I am not sure about other brands, such as euro type r,ignited. Those are similar starter buttons are wirings are little different.
This is all i did. 3 wires coming out from s200 starter button. one fo ground, power and starter wire. I got power and ground from cig plug wire. Then last wire is just directly tapped into starter wire(black and white) from ignition plug(brown). Works perfectly. I didnt want to use relay, because they arent really any space to work on, I have all damn wires from volt gauge, headunit. Wiring was way simple than i thought it would be. So you would not need relay with oem honda start button.
Heres pictures.

I was going to relocate hazzard button but whole wireharness wanst long enough to do that. I lost 12v cig plug but i can always hardwire radar detector. No big deal. Only problem was damn cold weather.

i think it only comes with the button and harness not the wires
the kit i got doesnt need a relay either, hooks up just about the same way just also has to get power from a direct, constant source like a battery or white wire under the steering column
basically its hotwiring your car, but it still needs the key because of the immobilizer

ive already read everything the diy and everything i can find on it but my question is this. how do you wire up the s2000 starter. i dont want to have all the switches like in the diy. i just want to have the button work when you turn the key to the on position. do you have to have a relay for that or do you just wire it up. and does the button come w/ a way to wire it cause by the looks of the pic that unleaded posted it looks like you have to find some way to wire to the prongs in the back or does it have a harness that plugs into it.

ok first i couldnt get the video to work. and second the ebay one says that if you do not have a relay the switch will eventually fail is this true and if it is how do you wire up the relay w/ the switch. and if i buy one from the honda dealer i would get switch and buy the harness w/ it of course. so what kind of relay would i need to get.

Genuine Honda S2000 start button, you do not need a relay.I am confused why the people that you picked up the kit from said it was required. My kit came with all wires and relay. I cut relay out and didnt use it.

If anybody knows about this, let me know.

The voltage is really the same. the 12v referes to auto systems which are really at 14.4 volts as determined by the altenator regulator. the amps is the max that the points will handle without arcing, overheating & melting together. You will be perfectly fine with 30amp relay.

Yeah you want to make sure it's an SPDT and not SPST.
Did you check link i posted right above? You can order SPDT from partsexpress. If 87a does not have any use since nothing is attached to it therefore a SPST can be used.

if i could do it again.. i woulda gotten the s2000 start button.. cause with the ignited, you can crank the engine without the key.. so ill be back at rewiring the whole setup so that it works like i want it to work
So now there's an entire kit for the S2000 starter button? When I did mine last year it was just instructions from various sites, a button from h and a, and a single pole double throw relay (radio shack). Also, an old floppy drive (cpu) pin connector works great for connecting to the back of the button and then you can just splice the wires. I wasn't able to get my button to work without the spdt relay.
Good luck. I think my diy was lost (team web site).

well you really dont need a relay...
you just need to hook up the acc or power when the car is on.. the ground.. and the starter wire.. then your golden
civicvtec1ps did it very easily so there isnt any reason why you cant
