i'll race but on my side of the golden gate, to much traffic going out that way. i want to go heads up with a fellow auto, want to see if my mods make any kind of difference.

Comptech race header gives 15whp without any other mods supporting it.

And Hondata is the best thing since toilet paper.

the swap is only like $5000...not too much, i just took a loan out of the bank so that i could get the $3800 K20A2 on ebay. Monthly payments are like $180 on that loan...thats not bad seeing how thats the only thing that i am paying for right now (thank you Lord for parents!). The race header is expensive though (about $1000), and the ECU isnt too bad ($600)...but they are totally worth it.
K20A2= roughly 160whp
Race header= 160+15whp=175whp
intake= 175+10whp=185whp
exhaust= 185+5whp=190whp
ECU=190+15whp=205whp (mmmm, 205whp)
stomping down on unexpecting TypeR's, GSR's, Si's, S2000's, and maybe a few WRX's= priceless! (sorry had to do it)
Later~
Oh, by the way...im gonna give everyone on the board a ride in my car when its done...meaning, im gonna make a video pushing through 3rd or 4th a bunch of times, and maybe a race with another car. see you then.

I/H/E on a Type R will break 13s easily. More people would agree a Type R with I/H/E would win against a stock S2k, which could only break 13s with a good driver. Don't get your hopes up on that one. Any more mods would surely return the stomp.
If it was stock... Civic w/K20A2 > Hype R.
Still priceless.
Thanks for the invitation, but I'll have one in return for you sometime - it will just involve two cars instead of 1.

An exhaust doesn't really give you much horsepower, especially alone.
In fact, dyno tests show that the EP3 muffler flows just as good as any aftermarket muffler with some custom piping done.
Stock intakes boxes are usually the more restrictive force on the engine, not the exhaust system. The cat converter and exhaust manifold (header) is a different story as well.

you guys havent read too much about the RSX...there have been proven 3rd party tests that read 20whp from intake alone on the K20A2. It was in a honda tuning mag i believe. Also you can find similar dyno results on clubrsx.com.
The K20A2 responds so well to mods it makes any other Honda engine jelous. My friend has a 97 turbocharged Prelude, that i am going to be able to walk all over after a few NA mods on my new motor. Hes really pissed about it actually. Hes my good buddy though, and he would kill me in the turns anyways.
There is one guy on the clubrsx.com boards running 13.1's, 13.2's with NA mods...mainly Type R stuff...nothing too major done to the motor. The K series is the way of the future.
Oh and for the record...Stock for stock...a RSX-S can slowly walk away from a Type R, but i do believe you when you say that a Type R can maybe walk away from a S2000 with I/H/E. It would take a really good driver in the R though to do that. I now some not too great, S2000 drivers getting 13.8's though. They are dumb, and hold the RPMs at 7 grand, and drop the hammer fully smoking the rears, but it does turn 13s in the 1/4...so whatever works i guess.

Me and my cousins were just racing yesterday. stock h22a4 against a k20a2 with an injen short ram. both manual of course. off the line the prelude wins, but it you take it to top speed, type s would go bye bye. For a k20a2 to respond to all your mods, you need to open up all your air flows (headers/exhaust). Especially that it has a very limited catalyctic ( i think that's how you spell it ) just like an em2.
This is just my thought, I know for sure by expience but I could also be wrong.

im getting a race header after my swap...no cat. the header that i want has been proven to make average 16whp along on stock exhaust.
200whp is easy with a K20A2, doesnt take much at all...maybe about 2 grand tops for 200whp...thats not bad. I know what you are going to say...well a turbo on the D17 will get you close to that, for a fraction of the cost of a swap, and then 2 grand on mods. True, very true, but with turbo you are pushin the motor to near limits, the 200whp on the K20A2 is with basic bolt ons...get cams, cam gears, TB, intake manifold, gaskets, valves, springs, retainers, flywheel, clutch, final drive, short shifter, and you have a low 13 sec car. Im all about NA, so this is a really good route for me i think.
