Looking for some info on SJ
I'm moving down to San Jose in September, and I was wondering where the main bar district is in Downtown San Jose. Like, street names and maybe some names of some cool bars that 20 somethings go to. I'm interesting in finding an apt. that is close enough to walk to the action. Thanks for the help.

and be sure to hit www.craigslist.org when you're looking for apartments - usually you can find good deals - or atleast get your feet wet in what rent is out here.
check out mission ale house on third and santa clara.
my favorite bar here though is in downtown sunnyvale called Fibbar McGees. just down the street from three is a fantastic mediterranean restaraunt called Dish-Dash.
also check out downtown campbell, Sonoma Chicken Coop does microbrew there, and all the brews are not too shabby at all. not to mention the bar down the street called The Cardiff Lounge.
finally, for the more college feel, down Santa Clara street, youll eventually hit santa clara the town, the screet name changes to the alameda, then you make a left on the alameda (again). its across the street from SCU campus, in the same plaza as Safeway. the place is named "University Chicken", used to be called Cluck U (seriously. Cluck U.). the hottest damn chicken you will ever, ever, ever have. period. seven levels of spicy, and they have fat tire on drought. (I guess everyone has that now, theyve always had it though....)

oops, forgot BJ's at Oakridge mall. jump on 87 south, exit santa theresa, you cant miss the mall, target is at the end to the right.
BJ's faces Blossom hill (also cant miss that street) and does Microbrew as well. their beers arent as good as sonoma chicken coop, but the portions are dead on (
). you can do a seven beer sampler for a few bucks and try almost everything they have. once youve sampled almost their entire selection, you can pick a pint of your favorite, and stumble back to the DD's car.
they also have very rare belgian ales, most of which have wonderful flavors

if you really like beer, check out the gordon biersch brewery in downtown san jose. the nearby tied house restaurant in san predro sq. also has an in house brewery not to mention other samples.
went to BJ's last night. had the Saison Dupont, it was excelent. very thick head, yet the bubbles were large. very strange phenomenon. the head was extreemely bitter, thought I wasted my money, but the beer proved otherwise. very very good, I highly recommend it.
the time before I remember getting a bottle of Kwak. I can't remember anything specific about it, other than it was damn good as well. Highly recommend both.
