80mph is never on california highways(that i know if). if you choose to fight, what proof are you gonna be using to defend yourself with? saying ur car is all modded and flashy isnt a real reason either. when you said you wasnt only in the carpool running 80mph, its true but you were the one with the badluck for the officer to tag you.

sorry but u gotta take the ticket just like every other out their. goto traffic if you have to, going to traffic school will prevent points on your driving record. just keep your speed to a lower level. unless you have a real good reason why to drive that fast (wifes preg, job interview etc).

He must of picked you out of all the cars since you were the slowest and easiest to catch lol. J/K. Good thing he didnt cite you for going over 80MPH or it would of been even more expensive I think. Were you alone in the car pool lane or did you have a passenger?

maybe you can get it reduced by admitting guilt.
i would suggest you invest in a radar detector

it seems to me that cops use the radar less these days. but a detector couldn't hurt. i know they're using the planes to pace people on some days

were you in the middle of a pack and he just happened to pull up behind you? cuz i always here about people at the end of a pack of speeders getting pulled over because in the officer's words:
"You were closer to me"

i've never gotten a ticket, but i think i would go just bite the bullet and go to traffic school

Honestly, I'd fight it if you felt you had a chance to win. I'd also take some of the visible mods off my car if I were you. But that's just me. Either that or drive slower.

I *hate* being picked out of a crowd by cops.....

Ok, here is my 2 cents. You mentioned 4 other tickets in the same month. Unless all 4 were totally removed and dismissed, they will look at those when they determine what to do on this one. And I bet you will lose if you fight it even if you have a witness... because of those 4 other tickets.

They might take your DL away, I knoiw your insurance will not be happy.

Good luck. Me, Id fess up and face up. It would suck but its the right thing to do if you were speeding.

maybe its time to get a better radar detector if you already have one and it doesn't work...
and unless you have solid proof, i say just try to ask for fee reduction instead of denying it...

I say you just stop giving them a reason to pull you over. I don't know what defence would be but just go and fight it. If the officer doesn't show up, you're home free.

I forgot the technical term but on highways, they will get into your blind spot and follow you. Then they get you speed off their speedometer. I've had a motorcycle cop do that to me on the freeway. I was going 80mph also.

This is called VASCAR and is very easy to beat in court, especially if the Car is not same size as yours. Cause when doing VASCAR the officers tires need to be speed calibrate before going on shift, there needs to be compensation of engine timing and speed difference beteween vehicle make and model...

As for the current ticket, if you think he didnt get you on radar and was single out for your mods without proof of speeding fight it.

My personal suggestion, Hire a lawyer. Its better to give them your money, pay fines and get supervision versus giving all your money to the courts, getting points, and possible getting supervision, comm service and even maybe losing your license too!

i got pulled out on 880. the cop said i was ding 75-80 in that "fast lane" messed up. He was on abike and I couldn't tell it was a cop, just thought it some biker. Wonder if peeps were laughing at me behind me who knew it was a cop. Advice: not much you can do, perhaps let it go.

Ticket for insurance... you mean NOT having insurance...?!? I heard those cost like $1k or so, how much did that one cost you?

You got a ticket for an intake too? How did they find that out, don't they need a search warrant to pop your hood or something...?

if u want to fight. put up a good arguement on what condition did the cop clock u at 80mph. if it was radar gun. ask when it was last calibrated and is he certified to use it.

ticketassasin.com and use their model. your best bet is do the trail by mail. write up a good daym paper. most cops wont remember by trail by mail

I do have the insurance it's just that I showed the expired one.. and left the new one at home.. so I just had to go to court and show it to them and paid $10 for transction fee.. i know it cost alot to not have an insurance and get pulled over

do they really need a search warrant? coz this cop randomly pulled me over and told me to pop my hood and so my intake... he noticed my "blue" bulbs too (they're really bright whites).. my muffler... windows tint... and other stuff.. that guy didn't know **** about cars.. and he admitted it.... I think he was a newbie.. I was just right next to him while he was writing the ticket watching him like a mother****er LOL

i think the cop was just being a bitch. it shouldnt be that much. for goin 80mph i think its more like around 200.

ur lucky u were just doing 80...

i got a speeding ticket about a week ago... 95 in 65. im not elligible for traffic school cuz in CA if u go 30mph over, ur like in a whole different category for them to prosecute u for. and its a manditory court apperance. my ticket will probably be around the 300-400 range.

I totally agree with this guy. A traffic lawyer will almost gurentee every time that they can win. A speeding ticket is 99 pecent opinion. If he got you on radar their are ways the lawyer can discredit the calibration of that tool. If he clocked you by eye site or trailing (vascar) then he has to prove that it was justified. What people dont know is that the burden of proof falls on the officer to prove he got you speeding. I have won 5 tickets against cops. I swear! A couple red lighters and a couple speeders and a seat belt.. Soo like i was saying. burden of proof is on the officer, you just have to ask him ?'s to discredit his observations. get him to foul up. The lawyer will run you 300 dollars prolly and if he loses then its free. It will be gurenteed more than likly. ALWAYS FIGHT IT EVEN IF YOU KNOW YOU ARE GUILTY..... DO IT!

trial by declaration sucks..... that allows the cop to sit at home in his underwear and write up the declaration. Its your word against his and when it is written is nearly impossible for the judge to go your way. You have to go to court and drag his *** out there. DO IT.. GETTERDONE man. Lemme know how this turns out when you are all done. I love this ****.

i grew up on so cal but i lived in nor cal for the last 4yrs. I know going 80mph in san jo area is insane and will almost instantly get you a ticket. I almost got a ticket for going 75mph on the freeway. i was like wtf, in so cal i got 80mph on the freeway and its considered slow. In norcal i only go 70mph until i go back to LA then i got to 80.

My advice is go to court, hope he doesnt show up. if he doesnt you will automatically win. if he does then your word vs his, 9 out of 10 the judge will believe the cop. The cop can say the sky is purple and the judge will probably believe him. I say take him to court if he shows, just plead guility and ask for traffic school. Worst case scenario you lose one saturday out of the yr, but if doesnt show you win and dont have to pay anything.

Most of us show up....we get paid overtime for it. We dont always win either. We have to know our stuff. I check the calibration of my radar before my shift and after every ticket i write, and i note that in my report. I note serial numbers as well. Obviosly if the officer is an idiot and doesnt know what he is talking about he is going to lose. Its kinda odd you still have to pay the court fee of $10 for showing you have valid insurance. Here all you do is send in the valid card with the ticket and it never goes on your record. Its not worth the money to get a lawyer for a simple speeding ticket as well. it will be far less to just pay up, or go to court and plead your case.

Damn bro. I remember you getting a ticket last year (around the same time I got mines)... You should know better than to speed for the next 18 months... I'm careful as hell nowadays trying to avoid another ticket...

Worse case scenario. You have that point in your driving record and just gotta wait for it to go away. You can't take drving school cause you took it already to get rid of the point from your previous ticket...

Only thing you can do is have the judge reduce the cost of the ticket, but your still stuck with the point.
