That sucks... I bet he didn't go far. No one in the right mind travels far with painted plates but his vehicle could've just been used to transport **** to another unsuspecting vehicle or he could've changed the plates.
I hate theives.
first mistake is when u tried to get his plates.......standard procedure is to pull out the strap and fill him with hollow points.... find the guy and make him pay for the damage with his teeth.
dude dont listen to some of these guys, they have no clue about the way **** happens.
only talkin sense is slammed, ppl going around jackin stuff mite be strapped, or at least armed with a knice or sum ****. my friend ran after some kids who jackeed his bike, and he ended up in the hospital with a broken leg, arm, collar bone, and a crack in his skull cuz they beat him with an extendable baton.
all i can say is just try to avoid sht like this. ive gotten f'ed over hella times for the stupidest things cuz im a fckn dumas and too careless, even when i try to not mess up things. and u shud report it to police too, cuz u have a description of the car at least. even tho they probably wont do sht, sumthin mite come up, u never kno

I know this doesn't sound as "tough and macho" as we'd all like ideally, but hey... you came away with your life and knowing that you didn't take anyone else's life. So you lost a few material things... no biggie. They're easily replaced. Probably the thing that hurts the worst is your pride or your sense of security... not your wallet.
But still, they'll get what's coming to them, one way or another. "What goes around, comes around". It's just life. Think of it as a valuebal life lesson.

Move to AZ. We can carry openly, have your weapon in your car, and for $60 take a concealed weapons class and have a permit to carry concealed.
Man I love this state
Other than that, sounds like you handled it well. I agree $500 in tools isn't worth yours or someone else's life. I just HATE thieves.

And it sounds like you did all you can - so no one, not even you could blame yourself for what happened.

agreed. u played it smart. besides..it is very easy for anyone else to say, "yeah, i woulda pulled a strap on em" or, "i woulda kicked their asses" but see what they would say if they're in that kinda situation ( not a diss to anyone here - but u know, somethings are easier said than done)

not have ever been in a similiar situation, I can't say what I would have done.
I can say, it sounds like you handled yourself well and still around to drive, and tell the tale, ...
I also say material things are just that, MATERIAL
PROPS TO YA, and have fun getting new stuff ....
