Waste of money... the eye is the best detector.
Some cops (like highway patrols) dont use radar detectors to check your speed. They pace you in your blind spot.

ya i was thinking of the same thing. my friend had one and it used to beep all the time even when there were no cops in sight. its like might as well just drive slow all the time..
don't the pigs also have a different way of detectin speeds and stuff?
supposedly i remember reading about them using a laser type THING
that they shoot @ your car and it tells them the speed.. and i guess
the radar detectors dont detect it? meh... IMO they no worth CASh$

well i think one difference we're getting confused with it radar detectors and radar jammers...
radar jammers, i guess cops can get away with still finding out if your speeding or not but i'm just interested in radar detectors. the ones that tell you if a cop is around. cause as long as i know, i can just slow down.

radar detectors go off when ever you are around businesses like grocery stores and stuff. some say it doesn't work but i had one, till somebody jacked it CHASE, and when it goes off it usually keeps me on the legal side.
my one works pretty well even though it's pretty old. It's a Uniden ... yes, sometimes it does go off when passing trucks and such ... but it doesn't really go off. It beeps once, showing a "Ka P" or something like that ... however, when a cop actually radar's you, it goes crazy, beeping VERY quickly ... and even faster, depending on how close you are.
According to a radar detector article, the Cobra was the worst radar detector.

A lot of false alarms because they intercept signals from other radar detectors... Most of of the beeps are false.
Plus, i do believe that cops use something else other than the old K band radars.
Buy a hugeeeeee Broadway mirror...
(i think you already have one)

Beltronics is the only detector to go with. They have the least amount of false readings. Yes typically, with all detectors, they will give false reading every now and then. For the most part they do work. I have been through Cobra, Beltronics, and another no name detector products. I would say the beltronics is the best one to get if your going to get one. They are kind of costly but I would say well worth it. "If your going to do something, do it right"

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Yeah I jacked Abrahams radar, gonna give it back most likely unless he gets a new and better one and since he's so koolio he'd let me have this one. But yeah, it does go off for no reason sometimes. But it already has been useful goin down Fullerton/Harbor where the cops hide out. Those of you that know that area know what I b speakin about.

I have one and i think its great when it does work. There are times when it doesnt work, but it sure helps when it does go off. Mine only beeps when i pass stores with automatic door openers, but it is a different tone then the cop tone. I got mine at bestbuy for 300 and i say its well worth the money, but still watch out cops dont always use their radar.

well say you get pulled over for speeding 90mph in a 65 zone. tickets what minimum $200. traffic school $80. if you had a radar detector it could have saved you that $280. it could possibly save you on another ticket as well. some radar detector companies have a guarentee where if you get a ticket within 6 months, they'll pay for it.

I was thinking... (oh no) If a cop catches you with the radar detector, the officer will assume that you are a blatant speeder and will give ya a ticket no matter what.
So if you get one, hide it well.
