Auto to Manual + Engine SWAP????

Hey i was thinking of change my transmission from auto to manaul soon and engine swap soon but i need advice if its worth it...questions about the peformance, reliability, and condition after the swap and transmission change. everyone will tell you its not worth the money. unless if you got alot of body work done to your car its better to trade in the car and swap out all your mods...
and not sure what engine your talking about but you dont need to swap out the engine in order to do a transmission swap. your probably looking at anywhere from 2-3k. i've heard of people getting it done for 1k if they have a hook up.
