Anyone lived or living in Bakersfield?

Well been looking around down in CA and the cost of living is high there, but I need to try it. Just curious what do CA members have to say?

its about 2-3 hours from downtown LA.. it gets pretty hot there. the racing scene isnt too badd. its not exactly in the middle of no where but its also not anything like LA. but ya its pretty far from here..

what do you want to know? IMO it is a horrible place to live. It's got a higher pollution rating than LA, there is nothing to do, unless your 21, and then there is like a total of like a whopping 3 scenes to hit, it just plain sux. Unless your older w/ a family, cause then it is a good place to raise a family i guess. Ask away, I lived here for 18 of my 20 years.

I think the pop right now is somewhere around 300,000. Like in any town, there are thugs, but bakersfield has a bunch of hic country folk too. It all depends on where you live too, just like any city. Unemployment has gone up some over the last few years, but recent large developements of central distribution centers and central offices have been lowering the unemployment rate quiet rapidly. THere are some huge distribution centers that just opened or are about to like some KEA place that i Guess is like the size of 10 football fields and a Target distribution center with some 5,000 jobs. As far as dirty town, the pollution is horrible, The "dirty part of town" is downtown, but alot of the city is new and very suburbanized and nice. Winter temp isn't too cold but it can ocassionally get down to the upper 20's to low 30's at night and usually in the 50's to 60's during the day. This winter has been really warm with temps in the 40's to 60's. There is only like 3 inches of rain a year hear, it's very dry place. As for summer it gets up past 100 degrees and sometimes into the 110's. Mostly though its high 90's to low 100's. If you have any other questions just hit me up.

Yeah right now my choices on moving places are Las Vegas, or Bakersfield. Phoenix is an option but lived there for 2 years, so would rather try something different. If you could live anywhere in CA and afford it where would you be living Blazed?

vegas is a nice place too.. its cheap and its a fast growing city.. its too damn hot for me tho... gotta love cali.. dont have to worry about the snow, perfect weather in the winter... where i work isnt too badd.. i dont think its that expensive i dont think. the areas not the best but definitely not the worst. it's close to beverly hills and such so theres alot of nice cars, and you'll see movie stars every now n then.. last time a bently wanted me to race them on the freeway here

That's funny that you mention vegas cause my buddy moved to vegas in October and that is where I am trying to move to. Not right away but within a year or so. If I had to stay in Cali, me personally, liking warm weather I would move to San Diego or that area, but I have heard the cost of living is really high down there.

i agree w/ hondaluver that vegas is probably a better place if you can control yourself with gambling and club life.
