Honda World in Westminster

Horrible service. The sales man was a rookie apparently as he has only sold 2 cars.I'm at the dealer with my uncle and dad because my uncle's old Accord keeps leaking oil and after about 4 repairs, still no luck.A new leak opens after the other thing is repaired. So all we want to do is go check out some Civics and we tell the dude,he keeps blabbing on about how we should come inside and do paper work.So we end up going inside and we tell this dude my uncle has no credit, and he tells us we can get like a 3-5% APR.Bullshit.No credit and you get an APR that low?So he's trying to sell us the car right then and there and we obviously aren't going to buy the Shitvic. My uncle brought nothing with him to buy a car.All we wanted to do was look at the cars.He gives is an offer like a 3.5% APR,$367/month,$5000 down payment for 60 months. That would be a fair offer, except my uncle can't get a 3.5% APR.Declined.Gives us another offer like a $10,000 down payment,15% APR and some number per month. It's like 6 at night by now (3 hours gone by) my uncle says he'd do $10,000 down payment,$250 a month. My dad has some party to go to at 7 and he's sitting there all irritated. My dad's trying to get us to leave since he knows there's know way that offer would be accepted. So he tells the manager we gotta go.The dude is trying to stop us from leaving. My dad keeps telling him we don't have time,we don't have time .Then the manager says "Do you have time if we accept $250?"Ok that really ticked me off. He's thinking that we're playing games to get the best deal when we gotta go.6 at night dude. You don't say that kind of stuff to someone who could be buying a car from you..My dad just goes off saying stuff in Viet and he eventually tells us that he'll call us tomorrow and we'll make a deal. We're leaving and the sales dude is following us to my car talking to my dad saying that he's "on our side" trying to get us the best deal.My dad just cuts him off telling him to call him tomorrow with an offer.5 mins into driving home phone rings.Guy says they'll accept the $250.But we all know that $250 is gonna be $280.3-5% APR with no credit?Come on now.

Funny, I had the same experience in Alhambra with Goudy Honda. Salesperson kept saying he's on "our" side and was willing to work with us. Ran after us when we left to our car, kept blabbing on about how good the cars was without even knowing how VTEC works, kept saying how low APR he could get me (22yr old & student), and etc etc. It's just how dealers work...he also ran to his manager at least 5 times without coming back with anything useful. We only went to the dealer to see how much they're willing to give my parents for a trade-in and it ended up wasting like 3 hours of my life. They also pulled up bs info and gave us the lowest trade-in value imagined. Only thing good about Goudy Honda I found out so far is....They made 2 sets of EM2 keys for me for $40 a piece and they're only minutes away from my house. lol

Re: Honda World in Westminster

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. One thing to keep in mind is that car salesman are always trying to manipulate the conversation. What has worked for me in the past is something like this so that I'm in control of the conversation:

Car salesman: Hi, I'm John. How are you doing?
Me: Great. I'm Bob. How are you doing yourself?
Car salesman: Very good. Looking to buy a car today? Any questions I can help answer?
Me (politely but very firmly): I'm only here to look today. How about if I need anything, I'll come find you John. Thanks."

And then at this point, I disengage eye contact and proceed to look at whatever car I'm interested in. If they persist, and usually it's to comment on the car I'm looking at, then I say to them a little more loudly, "Yes, I know that the car has such-and-such feature. Thanks, I'll come find you if I have questions."

The main thing is to not let the car salesman manipulate your conversation if you're only there to look. They may have started the conversation, but you're the one to end it on your terms.
