I don't know man, I thought the whole idea behind craigslist was to sell locally. It's safer than ebay becuase most of time you're actaully meeting the person before the transaction, but it depends on what your selling, especially if it's something rare then I can see out of state people looking to buy.

Craigslist is a community forum, if you can't meet face to face, and pay with cash, then it's a scam, unless someone is willing to do paypal, and even that is sort of sketchy....

Oh, and I almost got scammed once when I first started on Craigs... If they say that they'll pay for shipping and pay for a UPS person to come and pick up the package, that's B.S. It wasn't until about an hour after reading this guy's email did I realize I was getting scammed. How retarded of me.
Yeah, even craigslist warns/suggests you avoid fraud by only doing local transactions.
If you're adamant about selling it and the only people willing are out of state, then you may want to maybe work out some arraignment for them to mail half the payment first (and have it cleared) before you mail out the product. And after receiving the product, have them mail out the second part. (this is risky as well, but least if you get screwed, it's only half the price) That's what I've done on this site before for sales greater than $50
