Rep Power: 339 A WARNING to fast drivers
I just got this email at work...
For those of us who like to drive fast.....
California Highway Patrol will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy in South Orange County starting January 25, 2006. The state estimates that 22 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 3 million will go to pay California Highway Patrol officer overtime. There will be 90 California Highway Patrol officers on duty at all times patrolling the 7 freeways. They are the following: 73, 55, 133, 241, 57, 5, 605 freeways.
Now 7 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every California Highway Patrol officers is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes.
They have issued 50 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and they are bringing all their part timers on full time. If you live or work in South Orange County you must take one of their freeways. It's up to you how fast you are doing when they do. This is a test by the CHP to raise the extra funds for the State of California. The wealthy folks of South Orange County can afford this new tax. The California State Legislators dreamed up this law to help close the budget gap or something like that. I was told KICU-FM confirmed all of this. So be safe and don't forget speeding tickets are on you.
You've been warned.

Rep Power: 288 yeah....cause on the news theres been a guy posing as a cop and pulling people over to rape victims.
I think this is ****ing bullshit that they do this. I mean, I understand that people speeding deserve to get tickets, this is bulllshit. Since they have to pull a car over every 10 minutes, ill prolly get pulled over since Im in a "modified import".
Im usually a good driver, but I just have a bad feeling about this.....

Rep Power: 295 my guess is the unmarked cruisers are gonna be either all white or all black with chp markings on the doors and lights on the inside of the car...usually all white chp cars are for commercial vehicles but they can pull anyone over...gotta watch out for the new black and white camero ss's

Rep Power: 297 Unmarked cruisers look just like stock Crown Victorias
Some noticeable differences are the "POLICE INTERCEPTOR" emblem on the trunk, exempt license plates, and lights on the drivers side rear deck.
And yes unmarked cars can pull you over.
My friend was once pulled over by a LAPD detective on the freeway because his speed was so highly dangerous (100+).
Detective gave him a firm warning and let him go.

But seriously, just be careful out there. Also, you are more apt to be pulled over if you're in the going fast in the fast lane over if you're going fast in the slower lanes. Sports cars, sporty cars, and "fixed up" cars are bigger targets than family sedans. SUV's are also a greater target, since they're easier to spot. Station wagons are a lesser target than sedans, considering most of those drivers are much more sedate and "responsible". For brands, I'm guessing Buicks, old Cadillacs, Oldsmobiles, and old Volvos for the least targeted.
