i dont know if theres a thread for this but im asking cali peeps if the top tier gas they are talking about in the home page of this site saying good or bad for our cars. doesnt really get into details. any1 know??
i think its good...improves efficiency and keeps engines clean.
from the article it seems only shell qualifies as top tier
i wonder if the chevrons in CA qualifies...i really like chevron gasoline for some reason, lol

I only use 76 gas, always have, probably always will since many of their stations have 100 octane at the pumps. I used to put it in my Subaru all the time, now just 2 times a month to clean the engine a bit.
Of course, you cant really say top tier gas in the winter tho. Gas is crap since its diluted during the winter season.

He's right, in fact 100 octane can cuase more carbon build up then 87.
On a different notes, shell gas is bad. They have methanol, methanol will over time eat anything plastic, including your fuel lines. However SHell does it becasue it burns rather clean and is better for the enviroment, but it's at the cost of your car.

shell is awesome... it was the only true 91+ octane gas at the pumps... when i used to be boosted, my **** used to detonate like crazy with any other gas but shell 91 NEVER detonated on me and it was a lot cheaper than the other gas stations around my area...

Methanol has an octane rating of 104, so yes it will help prevent knocking, but will in the long term eat away all the plastic parts in the fuel line. Even the dealer told me not to use Shell.
