I bought some cheap Philips headphones (the kind that are cushiony and go over your ears) a few years ago from Target for $20. They sound amazing for the price. With speakers, expensive doesn't always matter...it really depends on range of frequency, sensitivity, and accurate reproduction...so every model from every company can/will be different...so companies just have more good products then bad. Also, Everyone always want's "bass" from headphones, and you will never get really low bass notes from any headphones.
Anywayz, if you are looking for a good set of headphones you should maybe look into MB Quarts

i love the triports, i have a set also... the sound of them is amazing, and even though they don't say that they are noise cancelling, they actually do a good job of cancelling out outside noise so you hear more of what your listening to...
they have great frequency response, they fit nicely around your ears, very soft cushoning around the ears, and the best sounding i've heard so far...
the only headphones that i would recommend over the bose triports would be sennheiser prestige's which are like $280 (Velour cushoning, super super soft) which is out of the range of what you stated...
edit: i see your looking for bass too, prestige's are more for clarity... the triports would have better bass so go with the triports

only 64.99 normal price $130
these things are insane...i dunno what kinda crazy technology they use, but i haven't found any headphones (over the ear or ear piece) that sound this good.
there is also ec3, and ec5 models i think...ec5 is MSRP 499.99 o_O

Pioneer as far as DJ headphones i'd say are better...
but if you are just doing casual listening then either would be ok!!!
If you want good casual headphones try sennheiser... very good quality... but also a lil pricey.

Any of the Sony studio monitors will sound great.
I have the Sony MDR V600 and the MDR V700 and I love both pairs.
The V700 did tend to feel tight on my head after about an hour.
