Is having a wheel with no airbag legal in CA? I want to change the steering wheel but I always thought it was illegal for road use.

Why would it be illegal? Not sure the exact years in which airbags started being manufactured, but I know most cars 1988 and older don't have them. There is no law stating that these cars need to be retrofitted with an airbag.

I thought newer cars that come with airbags had to have them, including the passenger...it's also illegal to deactivate them? Does anyone know the law or have a link that can clarify this?

Just got my Momo steering wheel installed today and can you say it is off the hook! No problem with airbag sensor because Momo provides some sort of circuit/relay that you install and it takes care of the problem. Wondering if I lost my cruise? Nope! I had the factory buttons relocated to the center console just below the shifter.

I ordered a new digital camera and once I receive it I will upload picks of everything.
