I think its just a regular license but under "class" it just has an 'M' or something
I plan on getting it before i turn 22 cause the cc rider class is only like $80 for those 21 and under but like $200 for those who are 22 and over

LOL you know what.. i worried about that too.. i got on my friends r6 and i think i had to tippie toe and even then i dont think i could touch both sides at the same time. Maybe i can drop the bike a little bit and work out my legs so that i can easily hold it up with one foot on the ground

can anyone give me a short overview or link to the process of getting a class M license? Is it like getting a regular license (classes, permit, written test, driving test, etc)?

well if you take the cc rider class, they teach you how to ride a bike and at the end they test you. if you pass the test you automatically get it...
i'm sure you can get it without the class but not quite sure about the process involved in that

Yeah, its just a regular license with either M1 or M2 next to the C (or A or B if you have that license as well) depending on the class of motor cycle you would be operating.
Sorry I guess my last post sounds misleading what I meant to say was I went to take the class and completed it and I got the required documents (DL389) to get a written test from DMV and obtain my Moto license after the test ,but I never went to DMV to take the test so I basically I started the process but never finished it. So now I do not have a moto license but I have a card that says I completed the "Basic Rider course" and the DL389 form so I guess I just have to pretty much set up an appointment to complete the process. As for the cost of the course I paid $75.00 last summer but I hear its like twice as much now so figure $150.00 + for it depending on your age.

at the time when i got my M1.....back in 7/99, if u pass the course u didnt have to take the driving test at the dmv.....all i had to do since i passed the cc rider course was one side(half) of the auto permit(cant miss more than 1) and the motorcycle permit test..............Personally me, id just go n get the permit, only restrictions are 1.cant ride at night 2. cant take passengers. but its only good for couple months
since I recently switched from 4 to 2 wheels I'll try to clear it up for ppl
getting your moto license.
A) take the MSF, pass the course, go to dmv take the written test, pass, get your license.
total cost about $300
B) go to DMV pass the written test, take the riding test, pass, get your license.
total cost $27.
your choice.
there is always choice C
C) buy a bike,
ride it
i recently pick up a gixxer and rode it for about 2 weeks with out any papers. no big deal. just be safe always, no papers can save you from an accident.

THAT WILL ANSWER ALL YOUR QUESTIONS!
I took the course in corona!
Another tip for motorcycle noobs... if you are going to wear shorts while riding watch out for calf burn!
