Angry Rant about Keyes Honda and some questions

So, I took my car in to get it serviced Saturday morning, because the exhaust system was hanging down. Also, they had to do some sort of headlight switch recall service. So, I drop it off at 7:30 AM and the guy calls me up at 11:30 AM and tells me that the exhaust system isn't just hanging, it's broken; that it'd been impacted by something, possibly road debris, and that it would need to be replaced. Since it wasn't covered under warranty they wanted to charge me $330.xx for this "B-Pipe" + gaskets. So, naturally, I said no. As soon as I told him to forget about replacing it, I wasn't even able to get a word in edge-wise; he immediately hung up on me. So, then, I'm out and about with a friend and get a call from my parents back at home telling me that the car is ready and that the person from Keyes said something about some sort of charge. So, I call him up and ask him about this "charge." He told me that for just checking out the exhaust system, getting all my paperwork in order, etc. that he was going to charge me $85. An hour's worth of labor... Sorry, but that just seems to be COMPLETE BS to me, seeing as how it probably took them all of 5 seconds to look under the car and figure out that it was broken. Through this whole time, they were all talking to me like I was an idiot, as well, and just being general ***-holes.

So, since I flat-out refuse to pay that kind of price for a stock replacement part, what kind of aftermarket exhaust do you all recommend I get? I just want something that has a nice mellow tone to it, and isn't a bank-breaker. Any suggestions?

Thanks all for the help, and sorry for the long post.

I'm no exhaust expert, but maybe try the Random Technologies one... or buy a used stock exhaust from someone. Check the Forsale/Trade forum.

I doubt they'd lie, but whatever. I'll just get a nice performance exhaust, and then I plan on selling the car. I really want to get a cheap project car... like an FC RX-7 or something... Hmm... we'll see lol

finding a nice FC is can come out to be more expensive than keeping a newer civic which has a less of a chance of breaking down

how is it "broken"???? exhaust is just a bunch of pipes that are connected to each other.
Either the pipe is bent or the joint(? dont know the correct term) broke off.
You can easily get it fixed probably for like under $40 depending on what the problem is.
I remember my (*ahem*)friend had an exhaust leak. The pipe got disconnected from the header and so the exhaust noise was coming from the front of the car instead of the rear.
