What do you all think of....
*sigh.. shattered dreams.. two of my friends have had em for a while now..
and both of their evo's are oh so sexxy.. though the car is a beaut and beast,
it also has, like our vics, that one angle where you look @ the car, and it just
looks like a little toy.. iono if you guys have seen it before.. but some cars just
have it.. perhaps cuz the car's compact or something.. but it has the dreaded angle...

the physical appearance of the evo.. and how @
certain angles it looks like a tiny toy.. and dude..
are you talkin about stock evo vs stock sti? the
evo can stay with the sti.. psh the sti doesnt even
come with a radio or speakers! ..or maybe it does now,
but earlier this year.. my friend paid same as my other
two friends with evos and he got a sti with nothing in it.
..well there's something under the hood but the rest is
like empty.. but yah. i kno if u put like same amt of tuning
into a sock evo and a sti.. the sti would rape.. dont trip..
i still like the sti.. im not that deep into the evo vs sti feud. <3

The 2004 STi didnt come with a radio, but it came with the wiring for it. It was primarily designed for the racing enthusiest in mind who loves the sound of the engine and exhaust and didnt put a radio in since a lot of people in Japan take the radio out (for some reason??) Either way, the 2005 STi comes with a radio. If you take stock for stock, the STi takes it IMO. Yeah, you are paying about $8000 more, but its a car and engine that will last you for a fjckin long time. The only reason that the EVO can keep up is becuase its boosting 4.5 lbs more then the STi. I like the EVO when its fixed up as well, no doubt its a wicked looking car, but IMO Id take the STi. And Im not all up in the feud, but since I drive a WRX right now, I know a lot more about Subaru.
Its all good tho, I'll soon be out of the feud with the new addition to the garage. . . . .

have you ever heard Japanese music...that is why people in Japan don't want radios

I said THE new edition!!! Lolz. . . . . Yeah, STi wing is a little obscene, but the amount of downforce that it produces is pretty helpful. A couple of STi owners have said that the back end is susceptable to sliding out once you get rid of the wing. Also, if a cop ever writes you up for a huge wing, you can tell him to shove it cuz its stock!!!

Boosting 4.5 psi more has nothing to do with it being able to keep up with an STi. It's more like the STi has shorter gearing thus forcing the driver to shift one more gear to 60 and the 1/4 mile.
I have driven an Evo and it is a very nice. Interior is nicely put together and performance for the money is one of the best out there (probably can get an 03, if there are any on the lots, for 30k out the door. Both my friends Evo's have been very durable with no engine, transmission, or electrical problems to date (one has 20K miles, other has around 40K).
But in the end wouldn't want this car as a daily driver though, because the steering is too sensative. Great for autocrossing or mountain driving, but on the freeway a little twitch of the steering wheel can be scary.

were able to get their evo8's out the door around 29g's.. and this was during
the 6g markup period.. [prior to the 10g markup]
i totally agree abt the performance for the buck.. that thing comes off the lot
so stable and iono how to explain it.. it's just so.. strong.. and stable! lolz..
as for a daily driver.. i'd take the bitch.. im driving a 1995 honda accord while
my vic's in the shop.. and truthfuly i'd learn to deal with the sensitivty of the
wheel.. but i totally got a first hand experience of the sensitivity of the wheel..
..my friend took me down fullerton ave. and onto gale.. there's like a good 3/4mi?
until you reach nogales.. and it's kinda a twisty road.. we hit 100mph gracefully
trying to catch up to a friend he saw ahead of us in traffic.. we hit a curve in the
road @ 100mph.. he handled the turn nicely but god damn the tires were goin'
nuts from him barely touching the wheel while on the straight away.. tho i had
fun.. and my heart was pounding like a bitch.. deep down i was sad.. the fact
that his car is on a totally different level than my car made me wanna cry.. *lol/sigh*

actually some of you are rong about the MR. it doesnt take off the wing etc etc. It actually has more boost comes with carbon fiber layed roof and hood along with other light weight pannels.
The evo Rs is the one that strips everything!!!

This info is off the top of my head about the Evo MR
The MR has
1. smoked altezzas
(rather just have the Evo 7 tails).
2. Bilstein shocks
3. BBS rims
4. Wind "vortex generators" on the back window (has lower cd than compared to evo 8 GSR)
5. Turbo is bigger (don't know model #).
6. Has a 6th gear for lower RPM on freeway
.
7. The diverter valve is made of metal (maybe aluminum) like the 1st Gen DSM, unlike the plastic that the Evo 8 GSR has.
8. More horsepower and torque (Japanese #'s only show increase of torque, but horsepower is atleast underated by 35).
US market will get Active center differential (ACD) varies torque between front and rear based on Tarmac, gravel, snow settings. But, no Active Yaw Control, which varies torque between the front left/right tires or rear left/right tires for better handling.
Overall if Mitsu can price this car within the realm of 32k i think they can possibly leach significant % of sales from Subaru.
