another open track racing experience(pics)
After running the smaller tracks, i decided to try out the bigger tracks. I decided on Willow Springs, 2.5 miles long. It's the "Fastest Track in the WEST."
I signed up for saturday(7/10) and sunday(7/11). So on friday, i installed my new brembo blank rotors. I found out my Axxis Ultimate brake pads were dead already after 3 month. The pads had 2 autoX and 3 open track events. My friend Jeff(Spugenboy) from parts411 got a set of new brake pads for me to use on late notice.
I later found a big *** piece of glass on my week old(1 road race already) Kumho MX. So i went to america's tire the next morning to fix the flat. So i got to the track about 12:30PM, i have already missed 2 of 4 sessions of the day.
I signed up as HPDE 1(beginner) since it would be my first time on this track. After two session's my instructor bumped me up to HPDE 2. I was like "cool." I am hoping to get into HPDE 3 after next time in September.
So on sunday, i was ready to rock, since i new the track layout. Turn 2 is a right sweeper, where i was going 85mph. Turn 3 and 4 and 5 was a blast. So much banking, camber, and off camber.
Turn 9 is a decreasing radius turn with a very very late apex. God, hitting that apex each time was so fun.
I even taped up "127 HP" with the blue tape on my rear bumper to so those M3, M5, Ferrari 360, Acura NSX, Mini cooper S, etc. drivers the power of a 7th gen CIVIC.
I also want to say "Thanks for everything" to anotherslo1 for letting me stay at his place and for the great food. His car will rock at willow in september when its ready.

Yeah, USAF Stud did very well out at the track. He probably would have done better if the Mini Cooper would have let him pass.
By the way, no prob on the place and food bro, it was fun. And keep practicing because I'll be on the track sooner then u think

its north of lancaster. Same location but different track. I usually run on Streets of Willow(1.8 miles, 14 turns), which i have done 5 times. I ran on Big Willow(2.5 miles, 9 turns) this time. The big track is really fast.
having a fast car really makes a diff. on this track. only if i had a k20a

its fine to take ur car to the track when it is stock. i took my car out when i even had the stock tires. i upgrade my car little by little, so it doesn't slow down my driving skill improvement. learning on a car like my, is a great advantage to beginners. this is so because i need to drive much better than the other drivers that has at least twice as much power as i do to keep up
it was a two day event, so $225.
i have spent about $1000 on track days for road racing, autoXing, and go karting this year.
trust me, $1000 bucks in seat time will do more than $1000 on mods.
not to mention how much i spend on tires and brake pads which i replace every three month.
i will be probably going to button willow in august. another $200 for sat and sunday.
