Which tires are better? Falken or Yokohama?
I'm deciding on the Yokohama AVS ES100s or Falken ZIEX 512s in 225/50/16, I can't decide which ones I want. What do you guys think?
Falkens
Yokohamas
I hear stories of the falkens having a too-soft sidewall... and I hear of stories of the Yokohamas becoming VERY noisy, whereas the falkens are REAL quiet but grip well. Hmm???
These really are my only choices and whats available to me. I understand both are excellent performing tires, I just want the best grip .. both are about the same price.

Hey bro, what size wheels are these going on??? That will make a difference. If 17z, why not look at they very well know Falken Azenis. Not too much of a price difference of the yokos. But, of just those 2, get the yokos without a doubt. Looks so nice on the rex.

They're goin on the stock 16 inchers. Cant afford rims right now heh, This guy is selling a brand new set of the falkens or yokos for 268 picked up in LA. Thats AWESOME cause they're 470-500ish for a set at american tire.

Im almost tempted to go with these "capitol negotiator" tires i had on my civic, they were really grippy, (upon further research, found out they are made my falken) soo... I dunno though.. the azenis wear out too quickly!!!

just from looking at the tread pattern, it looks like the yokos grip better... i'm not sure how it would be in real life, but it seems that there is more rubber touching the road on the yokos...
and if your worried about them wearing out too quickly... get the tire with a higher treadwear rating... azenis have a rating of 200 which is low which is why they wear out fast.. the avs es100's rating is 280 and the ziex 512 is 300... so the ziex 512's would last longer...

Wow. Yes, sorry I made a mistake, the yokos are more money, but its weird since the falkens are actually a bit more than the yokos here at american tire. Hey nodnero, you say you want my RE92s??/ Yeah my friend has an MY04 JBP WRX and he runs canyons a lot, he only has about 5k miles on his new car and he already balded the edges of his RE92s. What an excuse for a tire!

BTW i ordered the falkens. Ive read great reviews on them, and they grip just as good as the Yokos, if notbetter according to www.subydude.com Also The yokos have a tendency to get uber loud
PS- nodnero, have you noticed the RE92s have a treadwear rating of 160!??!?! Why don't they grip then??? I find that odd

Nah Mango, I dont want your stock RE92s. I already melted the edges of mine as well. I knew they were a 160 treadware but the reason they dont grip is becuase of the compound they are made of and the sidewall is so weak that it nothing to help it stick to the road. So you get em for 268 + 60 shipping. $348 for a set of 4? Not too bad, I gotta find a place that will beat that price.

No shipping huh??? Good deal then yo!!! Yeah, my sidewall says "o enza". The top parts have started to burn off. They only have like 3000 miles on em since I took my rims off. I guess I was used to that extra 1.5" of wheel and tire on each corner.

exactly.. i feel like i suck at canyon driving with this car compared to my civic, im sliding all over the place and my confidence has gone down. is it cause im used to my previous lowered civic with a somewhat stiff suspension and low profile tires? I used to be lightning fast on the canyons, now everyone passes me like im a n00b
