Unhappy San Diego Fire

I know not too many members live in San diego, but Im curious how many were or know someone who was effected???

I was going to buy a house in Crest, and it got burned down!
I look at it this way, its a sign it wasnt ment to be. But imagine the sellers of the house it all went down the toilet

It seemed that the firefighters laged , but Im sure they tried there best, if the resources were there quicker, you never know.

i'm here in SD, but the fire didn't get anywhere near me. some family friends live in one of the neighborhoods that was affected, though, but they got soooo lucky. their ENTIRE neighborhood burned down EXCEPT for their house; it wasn't even touched. there's a picture of their house in the union-tribune. anyway, yeah, that's it.....

I'll tell you one thing, the firefighters did not lag. I am going up there tomorrow to start my shift and just to support my brothers up there, I can assure you we do not lag. We may be moving slow but then again they have us working out there between 17-20 hours a day. Also if it seems as if we are laging it is because 1: our supplies are not there to help protect the structure or we do not have enough supplies 2.there will be nothing we can do to prevent the structure from being burned, it is a lost cause, or 3. life safety is at a high risk, high enough to not put on the line. We put our life on the line enough, almost every call we respond to, but there comes a time when you have to back off and just deal with the decision. As long as people are safe and away from the fire, they can always start over. You can replace a house and material items but you can not replace a life. Just wanted to help people understand what we as firefighters go through. It is a fun job but not always a joyful one.

Thats very true but there r things in the house u cannot replace also. Like pics of ur family and friends. I feel so bad . I think its best to have all the pics of family and friends all in one place just incase somethin like this happens. But who knows it wouldve been this bad.

HEy whats up, im from Modesto california enrolled in fire science classes and all I want to say is after reading tdog saying about the fire department laging" Bro you have no idea how many departments are supporting your town. We have many different departments, Manteca, modesto, and salida from my area helping you guys out down there. Pray for all the men trying to bring this monster to rest.

SDFD <-- Mad Props...

Man I haven't had school all this week. I was sick yesterday, but better now. I'm not the only one that's had diarrhea (no kidding). San Diego gets a little bit of rain today, which totally sux... We could have used it a few days ago! Well everything seems to be alright now, except maybe the air may still be health hazardous...

eh my mom said people lagged too.

the resources, supply lines may have.. but I doubt fully that they didn't respond.

many people underestimate how fast these fires can spread... hence some people died unfortunately...

read a story on a guy telling his lady neighbor to leave and get outta there quick cuz its heading their way... and the lady was all calm saying "yeah i know." well unfortunately she didn't escape it..

its rough. to also have to leave your home and your posessions.

props to the firefighters and many other people out there fighting this.

my uncle's a fireman too.. he's captain of a station in fullerton.. not sure if he's out there though...

fires suck, my girlfiends sister left a candle burning in her room and they lost their house back in march, just now getting their lives/house back together. talked to my uncle the other day, he lives in SD, says the fires are like ten miles from his house. certainly looks scary watching it on TV

If you read the exact quote

"It seemed that the firefighters laged , but Im sure they tried there best, if the resources were there quicker, you never know".

You notice I used the word seemed, I back the firefighters 100%, I know they due their best!

In the past when there are fires in the woods they bring out the planes and choppers to pour fire solvent, in the begining. For some reason it wasnt done till 3 days after the fire has been going. The fact is the resource wasnt there to quick enough, due to other fires in California.

My uncle is a firemarshal. His name is firemarshal bill (his reall name, but funny).

Let me tell you how it was started, a person in the woods lost shoots a flare and starts a fire, a chopter comes and picks him up, 2 hours later they start fighting the fire.

I just want to make sure the people who posted with emotion in their post understand Im not saying its there fault or they should of tried harder, Im sayiong bad timing on the fire starting and resources, resources, resources!
