Most people buy used boards to start out with, I really cannot say which shop to go to because there are lots of shops all over the place by the beach...buy him a Town and Country board, HIC, Rusty I know for a fact are good boards
I need TP for my bunghole

Bruno Surfshop makes really nice boards, turn around kinda sucks dude so you'd have to oreder one like now so it'll be there for sure around christmas dude, i have a 6'0 that i got made and im waaaaaay happy with it. my girl just got a 6'4 funboard made and she has fun. im thinking of ordering another board from him. ive also heard nothing but good stuff from other surfers too. he's located in sunset beach (by bolsa chica, sunset, seal on pch). He does have baords in the shop for sale but he'll pretty much make you what you want for a really good price. there a package deal that comes with board, bag leash and wax, everything you need for a very good price. my board only came out to 310, my girls was 375 cuz she opted out for some carbon fiber fins so had to pay more. you'd looking around 385-450 depending on size and color. he's the cheapest in price around that ive seen but the quality speaks for itself. hopw this helps dude. Number for bruno surfshop is 562-592-4454
