who knows maybe it is in our heads.. never really know. it does seem like it makes a difference tho...(and i dont see why it wouldnt unless if we're using the wrong resistor)
maybe we should race to find out....
maybe we should race to find out....
i was going to try it out to see if it actually works (i have an apexi rsm and can measure times), but when i went to my local radio shack the emloyee said that all canadian radio shacks do not sell resistors anymore .. WTF !?. lol
i have an hks electronic air/fuel regulator (Type L) which sends a signal to the ecu to make it either more rich or more lean .. so i'm not sure if the resistor modification is similar to my hks air/fuel regulator w/ a rich setting .. anyone know ?.

actually, i think the resistor is used to simulate cooler temperatures, thus the vehicle's computer registers a slightly altered reading and increases the amount of fuel entering the engine .. it also adds more power and adjusts the fuel curve to its optimal ratio .. i think this mod will advance your timing by 1 degree
if you have your own ohm meter, i would recommend to do this yourself and get your own readings to figure which resistor would work best
EDIT: i'll try it out when i get my hands on an ohm meter

i bought a resistor earlier today from a local electronics store and installed it .. it took just under a minute to install and taped everything up (to cover from water, etc) .. i warmed the car up for a few minutes then took it for a test drive .. i used the average time on my rsm from my previous 0-60km times: 4.81secs
0-60km times with resistor installed:
1. 4.62
2. 4.67
4. 4.67
AVG: 4.65sec
just under a .2 second decrease in time ... i also noticed better throttle response and a richer air/fuel ratio

I'm a mechanic and the science behind it it true it will put more fuel and will advance the timing by up to 30 degree, so it will give you powere but how much is the question, and another cheap thing is to adjust your valves closer, but not to much or you will burn them up.
I just tried this mod today and I did notice much better throttle response....Hp wise, its hard to say if any.... However, when you guys did this mod and then tried taking it out and puttin it back to normal, did your orange engine light come on..... I'm not really worried but it just bugs me that its there.

thanks for postin the times up... now that its back to normal it feels like i lost a bit of power but my mpg is back up (which i really need right now) i'll put it back when i decide to get off my *** and take it to the track..

i think it works... thanks kazell for bendin over for us. j/p..
ya gas mileage sucks right now but then it responds so nice i dont want to take it off...

i took it off and ya i just hate it. cars slow as hell. it makes a big difference BUT i think i heard my car detonating at idle. i heard a slight pinging but as soon as i pushed the gas a lil it went away. imma try n pay more attention to it when i put it back on

naw i think its just cause there's not enough air in the mixture at idle. the car still think its getting the same amount of air whether your at 1k rpm or 6k rpms

sounds a little too good to be true.. but thanx you kazell for tryin' this out!!
for those of you who have installed the mod in your car, how much lower is your mpg? i currently get like 33 will it drop down to like 23?! if it goes down to like 28.. i'll be okay..
david, how's that pinging? still there?
thanx again kazell! this is pretty fawkin' interesting!!
