I was just selected to take part in the civic nation commercial they are going to shoot to promote the new 2004 civic. I was just wondering if anyone else was selected and if they are going to the shoot?

Rep Power: 0 I think sepudo got picked for it,im not sure. he said they took his # and everything, and where the shoots are in LA and malibu and sumwheres else, but thats all he said about it. and just that they really liked his ride.

well after going to the first session I must say it was awesome. There were about
14 cars for the shoot I went to, it was up in calabasas in the hills, right above malibu. There was also a shoot in santa monica, but I went up to the one in the hills. I got a chance to see the new civic live...it is cool and everything but I can't go into details, for my own safety..haha
You, guys will just have to wait for the commercial.
What I can say is that there was a really ncie civic w/ converted front anfd rear making it look like a M3 BMW. It looked so much like a bimmer that they couldn't let it be in the commercial. Also, it tool longer than expected because everybody's roll calls had to be 'greeked' which means taped over so the product names couldn't be recognized, after all that would mean free advertising from honda. Almost everyone had graphics and club names and all of those had to be covered. Since my car is sticker-free, I got a chance to chill and meet all the producers and directors and even got to chill in the big mobile home they had. Then when everyone was done 'greeking' their cars we all were told how the shoot was gonna be and what angles the camera was gonna be at and stuff like that. I can't tell you what the scene looks like (or I'd have to kill you =>)but just so you know, when you guys see the commercial with the scene in the hills I'm the third car, and the only black car.
The car in front of me(blue) had air suspension on cyclinders and after yesterday I know I will not put cylinders on my car. The tracition sucked for him and he almost spun out into a ditch on a turn right before we appered on camera. It was awesome from my point of view but he didn't think it was so cool...
all I have is some 17"s on eibach pro's but I can honestly say my setup was great for those hills. It was like a canyon run/civic meet/movie.

They weren't looking for any more black, silver or white cars
guamcivic2k1: the commercial before was just one scene on broadway in LA. This time they are shooting several scenes and making them look like they were shot all over the nation, hense CIVIC NATION. The hills shot is supposed to look like mid-west.
Handsonme: I wasn't doing it for the $, if anything I lost more from not going to work...
but think about it, getting a chance to be in a HONDA commercial and be seen by the nation...who wouldn't want that?
BUT to answer your question, we are getting paid for this and its in the hundreds range. imp:
born2xLr8: actually I didn't get a chance to use the neons since it was day time, but I will say this, after that run up in the canyons I am sure they are on right and that they can withstand quite a bit.

No but really....I know a guy... he is real cool and I admire his car what his future plans are

Yeah, a few hundred sounds about right. A one hour tv shoot for your face should bring in at least 300...LOL.. why not bring in a few hundred for ur vehicle's face?

Rep Power: 0 A person invited civics that were showing at various shows around So Cal. Basicly if you were showing, you were asked if your interested in attending. I was asked at Pomona Extreme Auto Fest. After going to the first roll call I was selected. They had another roll call a few days later so I invited Sepudo (Alan) and a couple of others in my team to roll with me. Bad for me though, I blew my back strut on the way there and have been fixing the car ever since. 
But to answer all of your questions, you have to be showing, picked and invited. It's like judging at a show, if they like your car, or if you know someone, your invited.
Sepudo (Alan), I was wondering if you could help me set up my members rides section and also wondering if they got a hold of you for the still pics shoot to be held on Tuesday? From my understanding they only invited 15 cars and directions are by e-mail only. Jermey, Silver 2001 civic with blue flames, said he is not going. Let me know so we can roll. I feel so special.

well, the final day of commercial shooting was awesome, i was up in palmdale from 9am till 8pm...long day but well worth it. We shot lots of scenes from countless angles. we used a quad with a camera mountred on the front and rear and a helicopter. it was great. there were more than 50 fixed up civics all decked out, and me... I know my car wasn't the best looking one but many of the producers liked it cuz it was just plain clean looking. they liked the whole custom look of the other cars but really wanted to show the newer, 7thgen nicely modded. also, since mine doesn't have anything that stands out in a crowd I got to be in the third row center, right behind the main car...I stayed there all day. so when the comercial comes out it will be a red civic(company car), then a blue one, then red then me(black). I took lots of pic and some short video and I'll try to post some up later tomorrow. To top it off, at the end of the day everyone except 15 cars went home, while those 15 lead cars got asked to do a couple close up shots.(running shots) i was among those 15 and also got moved to the sides so i wasn't stuck in the middle. I hope that means i get more camera time. i remember some people that were in last years commercial saying that they were on for about 3 seconds. Who knows what exposure i'll get but overall it was great seeing all those cars, meeting some really cool honda people and getting paid to do it all. imp:
BTW - we shot in the dry bed lakes up in palmdale so after the shoot some guys stayed later and had drag races, now there's an oximoron...civic drag races...well I didn't run cuz I didn't really see the point but it was kinda cool seeing other run and do dounuts and 180 spins and stuff. afterall, it is perfectly flat for miles and miles...
well that's all for know,
lastly, i got called back next week for a photo shoot that they will be running in several mags...
it will be still pics this time so hopefully the car will be up in front again.
